honestly i think anyone currently on a roster should be the only characters off the table... since they are the current ones in the roster, they are obviously getting the spotlight. Because everyone is gonna think certain characters are underused, regardless of if they are "big names" like Wasp. she hasn't been on a roster, or really that important to the Avengers in years, same with Simon... so to disqualify them just cause at one time they were big is pointless.

Your disqualified 'big time Avengers' are my personal favorites and imo are underrated and under appreciated as Avengers.

she has great character.

what qualifies as "big time Avenger"? Tigra would fit on this list as well as Beast due to WCA. Black Panther and Herc would fit based just on being a big name. what about two of my noms, Black Knight and Capt. Marvel? they both have long runs in the book, were around for major storylines, and Monica was even a long-running chairwoman. i just think this ends up being too broad a distinction which makes your available nomination pool too narrow.

And while we are in the topic,I would argue Scarlet Witch not only had been uderappreciated but downright disrespected.In many of the big stries and most memorable eras of the Avengers she had been portrayed as anything from a romantically indecisive woman, a perpetual victim,and most recently an insane deus ex machina.

You know what? You're all absolutely right, Rule 5 is far too stringent and doesn't account for characters that are now invisible, written horribly or are just freaking wallpaper. Taking that into account, I am rescinding Rule 5.

If anyone has any other rules suggestions, bring them to my attention between now and Thursday Night, before I post this thread's link to Facebook and other websites.

to reiterate:1)Scarlet Witch= not only had been uderappreciated but downright disrespected.In many of the big stries and most memorable eras of the Avengers she had been portrayed as anything from a romantically indecisive woman, a perpetual victim,and most recently an insane deus ex machina.

2)Quick Silver=just like his sister he seems underappreciated and even more relegated to second tier mutant of the X-books despite having a respectable long Avenger tenure.

3)Firestar= post Heroes Reborn she was one of the best additions to the team.

4)War Machine=despite being part of one of the less favored Avengers era,he is probably the best "replacement" character ever.

5)Namor=in term of strength and personality type he is probably the best thing after the Hulk and Thor.

Out of all of those characters, I think the only one that is truly underrated is Firestar. I mean, power-wise, she brought Colossus to his knees by cooking his from the inside out.

The rest of them...I dunno...I figure if Marvel Legends has already produced at least one action figure of a character, it's gonna be hard to make the argument that he/she is underrated. I know I included Tigra, and she's got an action figure, but despite her superhuman strength and reflexes and senses, she spent an entire issue of NA getting pistol-whipped by a dude whose main superpower is the ability to shoot guns.

That's seriously underrated.
