Currently looking but don't want to be a 9-5 cube rat ever again. I'm seriously thinking about taking the night shift at Costco and just stocking shelves. Hate corporate life. What are some of the best jobs you've ever had? Looking for any and all ideas
Best job ever was the Army as posted here, Prior Military, some other cool ones were working at a privately owned landscape supply center where it was basically me and the owner running the show. That was pretty cool. And of course I would be remiss if I didn't mention Jacksonville University where I was the irrigation supervisor for almost 4 years.
I love teaching, which is what I do now. But best job would probably have to be when I worked as a Computer Lab Assistant at my college. I got paid to sit at computer for 4-5 hours depending on the day and all I did was post on the 'rama and play games. Can't beat that.

The job was driving around so people could see the truck. Occasionally I would have to train new drivers for the company or give people free stuff like T-Shirts, beach balls, or Nurf boomerangs. Other than that, that was it. I got to cruse around listening to music and play my PSP or read comic books when ever I had a gig that required me to have the truck parked for any decent length of time. That was all fine with my boss because as long as the advertisements were in front of people's eyes we were doing the job
Then a girl took her eyes off the road for less then five seconds, slammed into me in my personal car at 50mph while I was at a dead stop and it was all over. Now I can't sit for any length of time without ever increasing pain building up in my back. Killed the ability to do the 11 hour shifts the job required. Company went out of business a few months after my accident.
Right now I work as a Connection Center/Wireless Sales Associate at Wal-Mart and I feel physically ill everyday that I have to go into work because I hate my fucking job that much.
The best job I ever had was working at Planet Comics, no the pay wasn't the best in the world but at least it was fun to go to work every day. Hell when in I started working there I wasn't even getting paid but instead was just working for store credit. After being there a few months the owner saw how hard I actually worked and hired me own full time firing one of the other rather lazy employees. Worked there for about 4 years on and off and it was definitely the one job that I enjoyed over every other job I ever had.

Always wanted to work in a comic shop. One of the few jobs I would take for little pay.

Yeah I had to quit because the store owner lost his day job, he was engineer that was contracted by the government to work for some factory or something like that, the government stopped funding the projects he was involved with so he was unemployed for several months and had to make cuts, the that meant that he could work the majority of the hours at the store himself and not have to worry about paying anyone. I stuck with it as long as I could but then we moved and it would have been an half hours drive for me to work like 4 hours a day and that just wasn't worth it.

I worked at a comic shop for a few years after high school. It was fun for awhile because the people that I worked with and for were great people, however, the company that owned the shop also owned a few other shops and decided that they wanted to turn it into a generic corporate owned business. They put one of the guys that I worked with in charge of the store and it went from being a great place to work, to being a horrible place to work. The pay was never great but before the store went "corporate" it really was a great place and I never once woke up not wanting to go to work.
Wasn't a job job, but an internship at a magazine publisher. One of those freebie mags you find at places like B&N. I managed to organize their advertising contacts and copy editing articles. They would have hired me, but there really wasn't much for me to do once I was done with those things.

Counting halloween money for unicef. The company is a bit sucky and they aren't a great charity, but the team I worked with was awesome. Plus the office was in a great area of the city and there were book stores, record stores and awesome restaurants everywhere. Pay was okay and the job was easy.
One of the best jobs I had was actually at Party City. I joined for the Halloween rush and stayed on a bit longer. Great people, good manager, fun stuff, little external pressure and responsibility, and if I wanted it, opportunity for advancement. I could have been running my own store in short time, but at the time I was looking for something else. Unfortunately, it was also part time and minimum wage. So I had to go looking elsewhere to make a living. I've often wondered where I'd be if I decided to stick around and pursue a management career.
