I'm amazed no one has reached back to some of the earliest Superman costumes.

That shield seems like it'd be a pain to draw over and over again. The traditional one is so much simpler to draw.

The sandal-like Boots are a interesting, but they just don't really work.

The original was just a cop's badge and yeah, Schuster was not much of an artist to get his ghosts to draw it. As for the boots... straight from the circus strongman/acrobat that they ripped the design off of.

As a sort of aside, it's why I don't mind some of the changes on the modern costume. The costume has evolved over the decades. Some aspects are needed as they scream Superman, such as the colours, the cleft pointed boots, the caps, the symbol..

Here's another Superman costume... never could understand it.

I agree with this too but Red Shorts = Ammo for detractors. For years, I hid my Superman collection from friends to avoid getting hassled.

I hope the shorts never come back, by Zod I don't want to even imagine the cover for that issue.

Proof is imminent...

The detractors would just find another thing to pick at.

I remember watching that Batman Beyond ep but don't remember details. Wasn't there a reason that Superman had switched to a black outfit ?

I dare them to wear briefs.
However, Liefeld is an enigma wrapped in a pouch-filled, muscular, footless conundrum.
