I called someone lazy at work...

... Her response was "kiss my black ass, motherfucker"

Then she went off crying.

And I somehow got in trouble.

Because I used the term "lazy".

When a white person says it, it's a racial remark I was told.

HR may now get involved.

I don't really understand what does or doesn't constitute a "racially related comment".

Two weeks ago, I was attacked on the street by a black man on a bicycle. Despite him apparently calling me a "cracker" as he tried to bike away, the police said it didn't constitute as a hate crime. I guess getting hit in the face and being called racially derisive terms isn't racially motivated, but calling a woman lazy is.

I feel your (non racial) pain, brother.

You work for lawyers, right?

What was the context of the lazy comment? In my opinion you should consider involving lawyers if HR is going to make it an issue.

... she didn't make it racist by "kiss my black ass, motherfucker"?!?

Or deserve feedback by, y'know, being lazy?

Yeah, I hope you tell HR all of that and how her comments toward you are making it a hostile workplace.

That's so retarded.

Can I ask why you called her lazy in the first place?

I needed a file from her, which I went to her office to retrieve. I was then called to a meeting in another office, leaving the file on my desk because I needed it when I got back. During the meeting, which lasted two hours, she emailed me five times asking fur the file to be returned. I told her that I was in a meeting each response, just go to my office and get the file.

When I got back to my office, the file was still there so I returned it too her. She then told me she got in trouble by a lawyer who wanted her to do work with the same file. I told her she should've retrieved the file from my desk lie I told her to do because I wasn't able to return it.

She then said she shouldnt have had to do that.

I said "why, because you are lazy?"

Then her comment happened.

She lefted in a huff

Went to the kitchen and cried.

Everyone asked what happened, she said whatever she said and now I'm the office bully/racist.

I look forward to work tomorrow.
