Developing… Animation studio Rhythm & Hues began informing its employees tonight that they will file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Monday. According to a report on Deadline, the studio can no longer pay its employees, and some employees are being asked not to come into work on Monday at the studio’s West LA headquarters.
The legendary CG animation studio has been in business since 1987. They have been responsible for such projects as Babe, Scooby Doo, The Golden Compass, the Coca-Cola “Polar Bear” commercials, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom attraction “It’s Tough to be a Bug.” The studio won a BAFTA yesterday for its visual effects work on Life of Pi.
A week from tomorrow, on February 19th, the Warner Archive Collection will release Yogi's Gang - The Complete Series on DVD. The cost of this 2-disc MOD (manufacture on demand) set will be $29.95 SRP, for 16 episodes running 392 minutes.
Actor-funnyman Albert Brooks has reportedly sealed a deal to return for Pixar's Finding Nemo 2.
According to Deadline, Brooks has finalized a deal to reprise his voice role as Nemo's dad Marlin. Ellen DeGeneres has already signed on to return as the voice of the memory-impaired fish Dory.

Santa Monica and Dallas-based Reel FX has no plans to slow down. Already producing two features—Jimmy Hayward’s Turkeys and Jorge Gutierrez’s Book of Life—Reel FX announced today that they are developing a third feature based on the Dark Horse comic book series Beasts of Burden. Shane Acker, who directed the animated feature 9 is on board as director.
Nickelodeon hosted its 2013 Upfront at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City today, announcing a slate of new and returning animated programming, with the highlights being the greenlight for a third season of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, confirmation of the Monsters vs. Aliens and Rabbids animated series, two new animated series Sanjay & Craig and Breadwinners, a renewal of the Animated Shorts Program, and a slate of new educational programming for pre-schoolers.
