It runs on the Disney Channel and Disney Junior. I can tell that it was created largely because Disney realized that their other Princesses are much older than the target demographic for the Disney Princesses line. Hence, now said demographic has a royal model more on their level.

That said, it's a reasonably charming series.

I will resist the joke about the demographic. :)

That's cool, thanks.

Boo

Disney turns away from hand-drawn animation
Disney, the Hollywood titan which brought the world classics such as Fantasia, Bambi and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, has admitted it has no current plans to make hand drawn animated films.

Speaking at an annual shareholder's meeting in Phoenix, Arizona, on Wednesday, chief executive Bob Iger revealed that none of the studio's animation companies was working on 2D, hand-drawn material for the big screen. While Iger did not rule out returning in the future to the style which made the company famous, the long gestation period for Hollywood animated productions means a gap of several years before any new film might emerge.

"To my knowledge we're not developing a 2D or hand-drawn feature animated film right now," said Iger. "There is a fair amount of activity going on in hand-drawn animation but it's largely for television at this point. We're not necessarily ruling out the possibility [of] a feature but there isn't any in development at the company at the moment.

I think Princess and the Frog performed below studio expectations and that turned them away from doing anymore.

D’oh! No New Simpsons Movie

Matt Groening revealed that “The Simpsons Movie”, while it was a wild success, also cost the animators four years of their lives and “nearly killed us”, not to mention taking animators away from the television series so they could work on the movie. So, Groening says, there will be no sequel on the near horizon, though the door has been left open for a possible sequel in 10 or 15 years when the animators might have more time on their hands.

And yet, you made it work.
So, DO IT AGAIN.

Memo to Matt: You will STILL be doing this show in 10 or 15 years.
COUNT ON IT.

Potential Roger Rabbit/Mickey Mouse project...

Mickey Mouse/Roger Rabbit Movie Picks Up Steam

It was previously reported that Roger Rabbit producer Gary K. Wolf is currently working on an animated remake of The Stooge for Pixar, with Mickey Mouse and Roger Rabbit in the starring roles.

Now, AICN has revealed a piece of pre-production art for the project and an update from the artist Douglas Sirois: "The Stooge has a treatment and we have a few writers brainstorming. We are developing more concept art. We have two directors interested and are actively looking for a Disney producer to take it to the next level. It is a great concept and a ton of fun developing. We also have been working with Gary K. Wolf on some Roger Rabbit short animation concepts that will also grab more attention and celebrate the 25th anniversary of the character this year!"
