Colbert is funnier than Stewart. Stewart might be a bit more intellectual, but, when it comes to pure comedy Colbert is the balls.

I'd ask Roger Ailes.

And the Colbert "bump" makes him a kingmaker.

I'm asking someone who is trying to be funny for new material.

It's getting to be Henney Youngman doing "Take my wife...please" for 70 yrs.

Do you guys even know what his schtick is? He is different every night. The conservative commentator thing is done less and less.

i dont watch it anymore, but that's how he appears in every interview, every appearance i see, whatever.

it's old to me.

it's just not clever anymore. and o'reilly is such an easy target. it's like lampooning austin powers.

I think the schtick is so brilliant it's surprising no one came up with it earlier.

Daryl Hammond's Chris Matthews impersonation was his absolute best.

It may have started as lampooning O'Reilly, but it really has taken a life of its own.

And he doesn't need to get a new schtick as his ratings and relevance are still high up.

Uh huh. If you are concerned about popularity over originality and moving yourself forward, sure.

if that's what's important.

I don't understand what you're talking about. If he's doing well, it means people find him funny.

Woody Allen has had the same schtick for 50 years.

Seinfeld has had the same schtick for decades.

Lucille Ball never changed, neither did Bob Hope or David Letterman or Johnny Carson.

I don't know why Colbert would want to change. :smt102

Bob Hope being relevant after 1950...

Seinfled retired his act in "I'm telling you for the last time" since then he's done practically nothing

Lucille Ball never changed and became a caricature of herself.

But you're right. a comic dream is to do the same thing over and over and over and over and over ad nauseum.

Bob Hope wasn't relevant after 1950? What are you talking about?

You're mistaking comics for comedy actors. Guys like Robin Williams occasionally stretch themselves with dramatic work. Comics latch onto something and keep it going for as long as it works. George Carlin didn't change much either. And I see you ignored where I listed Letterman and Carson.

see howard sterns remarks about Carson.

and then see Opie and Anthony's remarks about Howard.

it's old. It sells, but it's stale.

They made 8 Police Academy movies too. They made money. but it was stale for a good 6 of them

Forgive me Mahoney.
