I really enjoyed this episode. It wasn't the best episode of the series but it was a fun way to welcome it back. My largest complaint with the episode was the laugh track that was used inside of Abed's head but I doubt that will be back, so I'll just sit back and enjoy the ride. So glad this show is back.

I kind of figured that was a shot at the people wringing their hands over Harmon's firing ... as if the show would turn into a Chuck Lorre-esque sitcom.

Also, it was "off" because normally the Hunger Deans would have been the focus of the episode but it was just filler for the rest of the cast while Abed came to terms with the fact that this was their last year together.

That's part of it, but last night was a step up from the premier. A big step up and I really enjoyed the episode. Word from critics is that next week might be the worst episode they've done though and I think it's the Inspector Spacetime convention ep.

I think I preferred the premiere, but last night's was still pretty damn funny, it was great to see Gus Fring show up again and it was cool to get a glimpse inside of Pierce's house.

Also, the 'Jeff's dad' drama is surprisingly well done.

how they can make Troy unfunny is beyond me, but they've stupified his character even more. It's UNREAL. ok, done complaining for now.

I mean, how many times did they go to that S&M joke? It wasn't funny the first time.

Actually Troy has been one of the bright spots. I think getting him away from Abed was a good move.

A few of the characters are off too.

I think that they could find a groove and give us a great show again but I'm not sure if it will happen in these 13 episodes.

Anyways, about the actual episode itself, I thought that "Paranormal Parentage" was another good episode of Community. Once again, it wasn't the best episode but it was still entertaining. I loved Troy and Abed's Calvin and Hobbes costumes as well as Annie's misunderstanding of what type of Ring girl she was supposed to be for her couple's costume with Jeff. Dean Pelton's timing was perfect when he arrived as the right type Ring girl much to Jeff's horror. If anything, I have to hand it to the new showrunners for being able to keep the show familiar enough while finding their own footing as they go forward.

As Punchy pointed out, the drama surrounding Jeff's dad has been well done so far and I am really intrigued to see how it will all play out. We know that his father will be on the show this season but I am really hoping that the story won't feel rushed when compressed into the remaining 12 episodes.

Not terrible, but not the show I fell in love with. It's not so bad that I need to quit watching. Yet.
