IIRC, Fillion was originally supposed to play John Hodgman's part in the second 'fake clipshow' episode.

So what did you guys think of the two premiere episodes?

I thought they were good, but not a lot of laugh out loud moments for me. This is a show that has had me gasping for breath through all the laughter in the past, I am hoping for more as the season ramps up.

Some high notes:
-Jonathon Banks is very funny, hopefully a good replacement for Pierce
-I love the drama teacher, hope he returns for more episodes this season
-Nicholas Cage good or bad
-the cameo

I thought the first ep was only OK, not that funny, but it did have a lot to set up plotwise, so I can forgive that.

The second was hilarious, and probably the best one since the first half of Season 3.

And I'll say it: Troy has been fucking useless in these two episodes. No wonder DonGlover pulled a Ron Arrest and left his job to work on his hobby...

I just assumed that Troy's part was so small in these past 2 episodes because Glover announced he would only be in half the season. That announcement came long before filming started I believe.

Yeah, I think they knew beforehand because of the meta joke where Troy is angry at Zach Braff for leaving Scrubs after only 6 episodes.

"After everything Scrubs did for him!"

This is pretty much what I heard, he announced leaving before they shot or finalized scripts. After the way Troy was used last season, I'm not entirely sure I blame him. The Brita romance didn't work at all.

That's how I felt about the episodes, too. I'm still getting a forced/trying-too-hard vibe from the show, but hopefully that will go away.

He was great on Fringe as the bowling alley guy that knew stuff.
Rockman wrote:-Nicholas Cage good or bad
I felt that was a bit of trying too hard, but Pudi still did a great job.

Chevy Chase's cameo? :smt017
