We had "severe" storms in our area last night, so of course the local affiliate decided to interrupt the entire episode. :x

GI Joe was well before my time, but I still thought this was pretty great. Maybe it's because of Venture Bros, I dunno.

the joke of Jeff being afraid of being a middle aged man who works at a community college and is afraid of growing older?

Cause that's what the episode was about dude.

Was it me or were some of the original voice actors from the cartoon actually involved?

Duke and Lady Jaye were the original voice over cast members. 8)

The humor in the episode revolved largely around the cheap production values of GI Joe and other cartoons of the 80's.

I didn't find it funny, this is like the third animated episode they've done but so far only the first one was really very good.

I loved watching everyones face when Jeff shot down Destro. I always wondered why they never did that. When you watched that show as a kid the Joes and Cobra would get into a fierce laser battle and then everyone would just turn and go home. No one ever got hurt. :-D

Wow, I really can't believe that last night's episode, "Basic Sandwich" was already the fifth season finale! Get your head out of your ass NBC, this season of Community should have had a full season order. It's not like any of your Fall shows such as Welcome to the Family, Sean Saves the World, or The Michael J. Fox Show accomplished anything with a Thursday Night time slot.

Speaking of which, I loved how the finale's end tag skewered NBC's line-up with concepts like Thought Jacker, Intensive Karen, Mr. Egypt, and of course Celebrity Beat Off! In fact, Dan Harmon really seemed to use "Basic Sandwich" as a way to indirectly addressing NBC and the constant on-the-bubble status of Community itself, almost daring the network to cancel the show now. It seemed like a bold move and I really hope that it pays off. We are one season and a movie away from six seasons and a movie, so it would be a damn shame for Community to fall short so close to the finish line.
