Anyone who intentionally parks their kids next to people who are smoking needs their head examined IMO.

I mean, c'mon. It's not like this lady was saying "Stop shooting that rocket launcher!" to an Al Qaeda sleeper cell. She was telling some little teenage shits to stop smoking where they shouldn't be.

No. If it were me, and they were two teenage shits, I might have told them to shut up, and if they tried to throw me onto the train tracks, which is unlikely, I would have gone right for the throat and the testicles, maybe the knees. But then, I've been in fights in my life (and won at least half), and I'm big and strong. Still, it would be irresponsible of me, being as I have children and shouldn't go endangering my life. However, if I were a woman who was apparently helpless to prevent myself from being thrown off the train platform, I most definitely would have walked away and discreetly phoned the police, or simply ignored it. You act like calling the police and letting them deal with it is allowing people to walk all over you. It's not. It's handling the situation in a way that the police themselves would likely suggest you handle it.

You can speak up without putting yourself in danger. Call the police. Did they make it a law so that helpless women could enforce it themselves?

"Hello, Police? Do you think you can send an officer down to the station in the next two minutes? You see, there are a couple of guys here who are smoking, and I think you should get here and arrest them before they grind their butts out."

Jeeze, the way you make it sound, you would think what they were doing was no big deal in the first place, which goes way back to my original argument.
On the other hand, if they were blowing smoke in her face and being intimidating, it would be perfectly reasonable to expect the police to come down there right away.
Either way, calling the police > getting thrown off a train platform.

No, my point is that she probably thought it was easier to ask them to stop than to go try to find a policeman during morning rush hour.

Well, she learned her lesson, didn't she? You shouldn't always take the easy way out.

Yeah, too bad that she thought some people would have common sense.

Maybe that lesson should be applied to the guys who found it more convenient to smoke in a prohibited place instead of just waiting to smoke where no one would give a fuck.

Yes, an erroneous, and apparently dangerous assumption in today's world.

I'd imagine that if they were willing to attempt to murder a woman for asking them not to smoke, they were not new at the criminal game, not of right mind, and are unlikely to be rehabilitated. Likely sociopaths or worse. Therefore, I doubt they learned any lesson.

Mind your own business or get thrown in front of a train seems a very powerful lesson to me.
