I know it sounds weird, but think about it.

There's detective work, criminals with funky MO's, a hero with a dark secret trying to live a normal life.

I think it's pretty close in certain respects. Obviously there's not a lot of martial arts or anything like that, but still.

We've had several good Batman tv series that actually had Batman in them. You're crazy.

Dexter's a bad guy, not a bat guy.

So's Batman. He's an obsessed nut with parent issues.

Nah, he's obsessed with bats and teenaged boys.

Wait...one of those is bad, isn't it?

So you're saying Dexter's closer to normal.:)

Dexter had a sidekick too! Season 3 was awesome.

You are really stretching now...

I see your viewing the most basic elements of the archtype that makes both characters.
But beyond that, you have either a ton of Batman shows out there, or you're trying to focus and are over focusing on Dexter.

Many of tv's heores are flawed with parent issues and have dark streaks. House fits that. Lightman from Lie To Me has that. Bill on Big Love has that...

So unless Bats secretly marries his sister....

Unless the person is a teenaged girl. Otherwise, yes.

Oh, over protective moms count as an okay too...

You're the one stretching, catboy.

Dexter is a whole lot closer to Bats than those other shows.

And I thought it would be an interesting mental exercise to look at the similarities. Surprise surprise that I run into a bunch of Batman "authorities" here...

Yeah, Dexter is totally like Batman.

You know, if you ignore the lack of costumes, gadgets, or that one happens to be a psychotic murderer.

Is Count Chocula the closest we'll get to a good Batman themed cereal?

They're both bat-themed and wear capes, ya know.
