I don't think they give much of a shit about the publishing arm of Marvel, and will largely leave it alone. Not enough money in it.

It's the movies and licensing they care about.

Disney isn't Time Warner, they care and that will be part of why they wanted them. Look they just liscensed the Pixar properties to Boom and saw Boom become a player as a result. This is huge and Disney will want control of the publishing just like everything else. They will not sweep in and make changes. But this is great news all around.

Hopefully it means a return to kids comics, despite what Zabardast says, kids don't really read them anymore... it also should mean a more business minded eye placed on the publishing so that going forward, comics can be on the rise again.

agreed and there is no chance now we'll see Wolverine, Thing or Nick Fury ever smoking a cigar again.

They will give a shit about it when it comes to watering down product for licensing reasons or for keeping bad press off of them.

But things will get watered down, not that they are not already that way for some products now because of movies.

You will probably also see some changes though, I also bet JoeQ, though they will keep him for now, won't be around as long as if Marvel stayed its own company. Though some fans will probably like this. But to think that people expecting changes are kneejerk reactions when a major corp buys out a company is a bit crazy man. You seriously think nothing will change?

You really think so? Joe Q has done a pretty good job of keeping Marvel relevant and in the news a lot, even if many fans dislike what he's done creatively.

On the comics front, I don't think so, no. But we really don't know enough right now to say either way, which is why I think it's all knee-jerkyness. People always expect the worst.

This is about 15 years in the making when Marvel was a high flying growth stock. This excites me as someone with children that love both Disney and Marvel characters.
