Disney to Produce Avengers Anime Series

Since Jude's not writing this article, there won't be a single mention of tentacles.

Source: Marvel PR

DIsney has announced that they'll be producing a new anime featuring the Avengers to debut in Japan.  Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers will feature the Avengers (Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk and the Wasp) team up with Spider-Man and a group of Japanese teenagers to foil Loki's latest plan for world domination (which will presumably involve disks).  Toei Animation will animate the series, and Bandai will be involved in a merchandising role of some sort.

No word on if/when the series will be adapted for American audiences.

Looks like it is actually being produced by Toei for Disney Japan?

Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers Anime Made by Toei

In the anime, portable capturing devices known as "Disks" were developed to capture evil villains. However, thanks to Loki's machinations, both villains and heroes are sealed up in these Disks and scattered around the world. Amid the chaos, five youths obtained the power to restore these Disks-sealed heroes through a program called "Biocode." These youths received five Disks that Spider-Man, who narrowly escaped being sealed himself, retrieved. Thus, these five can restore Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, and Wasp — the Avengers!

If they don't tie those discs into the Infinity game system, they're crazy.

Remember the last batch of Marvel anime series? And remember those Marvel Mangas from a few years ago?

Yeah, those were all sorts of awesome, weren't they? Oh wait...

first of all, the "mangas" were more of an experiment than an business gimmick like villains month was. it was a chance to give writers more freedom to write comics different than normal and, while it was not "succesful" it still was a fun ride.
and the animes...i heard good things about the x-men and blade ones.
the one thing that seems odd to me is that...well...the controversy aboutt he poster telling japan how to make movies...

It was. It killed Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

This is something different. At least they aren't supplanting something else and they say outright it's for 6-12 year olds in Japan.
