Bit of a mixed bag, really. The first season was execrable. The second season was quite a lot better. The third season is one long story and it's an absolute classic. The fourth season had a great idea behind it but was pretty underwhelming.

Yeah, I recommend skipping the first season and going straight to second season.

If you're interesting in the first season, however, the very first Dr Who story is online (at places like dailymotion) and there are episodes on Netflix. I haven't watched too much myself, actually, though I expect to make my way through Netflix's offerings eventually.

Interesting list. Who is going to watch the show?

I'm confused, because the last episode I saw introduced

John Hurt
as the new Dr. Has something changed?

Yup. I love him. My wife and daughter think he is boring.

No, because John Hurt is apparently going to be the Doctor that was between FOX movie Doctor and Christopher Eccelston.

Also, that is very disappointing, I was really excited about the prospect of Hurt being the Doctor.

oh, okay, well, now I guess I know where the numbers come from, but if Hurt is a doctor in between, doesn't that make Smith 12?

For some reason, that's a bone of contention among Who fans. Some swear up and down and although the credit clearly read "Introducing John Hurt as The Doctor", Hurt's character cannot possibly be a true Doctor and must be some sort of anomaly.

Suffice it to say, no one posting this stuff knows the true status of Hurt's character or what legacy he'll leave. It's all guesswork and supposition.

The rest of us will wait and see.
