Actually, when I saw all the energy related effects, the first thing that came to my mind is the Master using them to leap around like a demented supervillain and the Doctor warning him that using the energy like that would only shorten his life. Does the renewed Doctor now have an additional 12 lives or did he use up some taking down the Daleks?

He said "a new cycle" or something back in the TARDIS.

Sorry, but you ignored the Master's regeneration. Same glowing exploding light. So not a side effect of the potion.

I didn't ignore it, give me a little more credit than that. I simply forgot about it, as I did, come to think of it, River's regenerations as well. Oh well, it was a neat idea that would have wrapped a few things up quite neatly.

Yes, but the regenerations come from a limited stock of regenerative energy, which, in itself, does not regenerate. When River killed the Doctor in Berlin, for example, she used up all her remaining power in order to restore him. Gone. Likewise, as a mentioned above, the Doctor warned the Master he was using up his regenerative energy. The Doctor got a new cycle in this episode, but used it to take down a Dalek mothership. What's left?

Considering the whole point of all this was to fix the problem of the Doctor having run out of regenerations I would not complicate things once more by saying he used up some of his new ones.

As fans the only thing we can do is assume that by the writers having the Doctor say that he has a full set of regenerations that that means that he has a full set of twelve. If they want to do something in the future that reveals that he doesn't have the full set, they have an out. There's no evidence at this point that they're going to go down that route.

Set photo showing Capaldi's costume as the Doctor:

I like it. :)

It has a real old school Dr. Who feel to it.

Sadly this is post regeneration and still Matt's costume without the bowtie.

I thought it was Capaldi's costume too but look closely, it's exactly what 11 was wearing in the christmas special.

I'm starting to think he'll be dressing a bit more modern.

But on topic, one of the first real looking pictures of a possible new costume being shared around the internets had Capaldi doctor holding a bowler in his hand leaning against the Tardis. And he looked super cool!
