Unless, of course, the money the author makes goes to fund political organisations and causes that one finds abhorrent, in which case one has the absolute imperative to refuse to see, read or patronise said author's work.

nuh uh, the $0.47 that card made in royalties from the books i bought went on to fund half a can of soda, which orson scott card consumed while thinking non-political thoughts. :P

The movie while feeling a bit rushed trying to cram everything into a 2 hour movie, does the book justice.

Just saw this at Dark Horizons:
Card Won't Make Money Off "Ender's Game"

Curious to see the new "Ender's Game" movie but worried you'll be putting money into the pocket of the outspokenly anti-gay author Orson Scott Card? Don't be.

The Wrap reports that according to multiple sources, Card's fee for the film has already been paid through a decade-old deal that includes no backend or profit participation. As a result, he won't earn a cent from tickets bought for the movie.

Card is listed as a producer on the film but had zero say or creative input in the adaptation. Where he is making money at the moment though are sales of the original 1985 novel which has hit the top of the latest New York Times Best Seller List for paperback mass-market fiction.

I think it would make more sense to "protest" by not buying his books rather than eagerly hoping for the failure of a film he has little to do with, and with no concern for the many people actually involved with the film. The logic of that is a fail.

Go for it. When I was a kid, the adults rounded up KISS albums and Dungeons & Dragons manuals and burnt them in a big televised bonfire, all they did was pollute the local environment both KISS and D&D did just fine.

Don't forget to get every Marvel comic you can to burn, since they did comic adaptations of the Ender's Game books.

Yeah but did you know that the Key Grip punches puppies and once wrote a blog about sunshine being worse than Hitler?

Sure, chances are every one of the hundreds of people involved with the film are monsters, that almost goes without saying. Have you looked outside lately?

What about the link/quote I posted from Garth Franklin at Dark Horizons?
I'm pretty sure he's gay--if he says it's okay to see the movie, doesn't that mean we get a pass?

What? No, I just looked up the key grip's name on IMDB and reported him to both the Humane Society and the Jewish Defense League, then sent a tip to Rich Johnston! :x

Well, just consider this: is it Hitler's fault that the sun just bore silent witness to the horror of Eva Braun wearing a bikini?
