Lighten up. It was a joke. I realize how hard

1. it is to get a job when you don't have a job.
2. it is to put together a healthy diet on SNAP.

You know who's on SNAP, low wage workers such as Walmart employees.

...I think we're both making the same joke... :D

Haha, yes... it is a joke about how (especially here in AZ) everyone thinks being on gov't assistance programs means you are lazy and don't want to work.

I'm saying that's the way people always referred to it to me. Not how I see it.

This. I don't eat fried chicken and barbecue every day, but I love them. I also don't give a rat's ass if they're bad for me.

Is this not true? The Southern diet actually is largely fried foods and BBQ. Diabetes is a huge issue in the South as a result.

That's true

but when talking about blacks and going directly to fried chicken and bbq it can viewed as playing to stereotypes. I'm surprised she didn't bring up watermelon.

It depends on the type of barbecue if you're lumping it towards blacks.
Barbecue chicken & blacks, yup.
Barbecue pork or beef? Not so much. (at least what I've noticed in North Cackilacky)
In the South, even barbecue is segregated.
