hmnn...

New LEGO Sets Show Off Star Wars Rebels, Ghostbusters, and The LEGO Movie

We already talked Marvel and DC LEGO, but there's more! New Star Wars (including of course Star Wars Rebels) sets were also plentiful at the company's Toy Fair 2014 showroom this week, as were upcoming The LEGO Movie items. Plus, LEGO Ghostbusters! And Simpsons! Oh, and it looks like the brick-builders are diving fully into the world of LEGO Minecraft, with more details to come on that soon (these will be bigger and fit better into the standard LEGO mold than previous ventures, from what I understand).

No details are yet available as far as exactly what shape the sequel will take but, as previously reported, Jared Stern and Michelle Morgan will provide the screenplay.

The LEGO Movie 2 Picks Up Director

Warner Bros. has set Chris McKay to direct the upcoming sequel to The LEGO Movie, which has earned over $362 million worldwide since it opened a little over a month ago.

McKay is no stranger to the franchise, as he was the co-animation director on the first LEGO Movie under the direction of Phil Lord and Chris Miller.

LEGO Ninjago: Nindroids is coming to the 3DS and PlayStation Vita, Warner Bros. announced today. A release is planned for the summer.

Here’s an official overview of the game:
"LEGO Ninjago: Nindroids players will face their greatest challenge as they work to protect New Ninjago City from the Overlord’s Nindroid army. Infiltrate Borg Tower, fly the Kai Fighter and face off against the evil Tech Wu. Take to the streets in Cole’s Earth Mech and Jay’s Thunder Raider, defend the skies in Zane’s Ninjacopter, escape Pythor on Lloyd’s Golden Cycle, and enter the Digiverse for an epic final battle. Story mode features additional favorite characters like Nya, Sensei Garmadon, Samurai X, and PIXAL."

This is suppose to be its last year, but I believe Chima is not selling as well so Ninjago may stick around a little longer.

Lego Toon News: "Simpsons" Minifigures Revealed, Village Roadshow Pictures Cut Out of "Lego Movie 2"

The Lego Group has revealed the 16 Simpsons mini-figures that will go on sale in the next wave of blind bags in May 2014, which will make them available at around the time the Lego episode of The Simpsons airs on May 4, 2014, at 8:00 PM (7:00 PM Central) on Fox.

In other news, The Hollywood Reporter notes that Warner Bros. will be cutting Village Roadshow Pictures out of The Lego Movie 2, the sequel to this year’s hit movie. Village Roadshow Pictures was Warner Bros. financing partner, ultimately underwriting 50% of the movie’s costs in return for an equal proportion of the profits (after Warners takes its studio fee).
