So I genuinely enjoy the New 52.

Postby syxxpakk » Wed Mar 20, 2013 7:37 pm

I've been reading a bunch of it like crazy. So far my faves are a lot of the Bat-books (Batman in particular), Frankenstein, Animal Man, Action Comics, The Flash, Earth 2, Captain Atom, All-Star Western, I enjoyed the first arc of Deathstroke but immediately quit upon entering the Liefeld-era, DCU Presents has been good outside of the Challengers arc, Demon Knights, and Dial H.

I'm only halfway through the alphabet so far. Going to start Green Arrow tonight.

I read more DC now than I did before.

I really enjoy All Star Western, Demon Knights, and Wonder Woman.

Enjoying Batman: The Dark Knight now that EVS is on it.

Enjoy Teen Titans and Superboy and Justice League Dark

Like Birds of Prey.

Skipped all the Bat crossover nonsense, but before that was reading Batgirl, Catwoman, Batman, and Detective, and will likely go back to some.

You're literally the worst thing to happen to comics since Stan Lee.

The yang to my ying. Obviously dc has a lot of new fans and I'm glad you're enjoying what you're enjoying. At least I have old trades I can buy.
Cause I hate to say it, I'm so put off by this reboot I couldn't even be bothered to steal the new books.

See, I think a lot of the comics are enjoyable if you have no past attachment to the properties. I didn't give a crap about DC before, so I actually find the new comics accessible instead of off-putting.

They're also enjoyable if you just read the ones that are good and take them at face value rather than as a personal assault on the characters/continuities that you prefer and continue to repeat that message ad nauseam when it adds nothing to the conversation..

I'm a sucker for the World is Ending and the Heroes Must Band Together to Save the Day - no matter how overused it is.

I also had the privilege of reading it as a trade vs the monthly experience. I remember thinking House of M rocked also, but as I recall at the time people hated the decompression.

Hey, as much as I dislike the current state of the DCU, I am man enough to admit that I like some of their titles. Books like Animal Man, Aquaman, Batman, Earth 2, The Flash, and Swamp Thing have all been pleasant surprises since the relaunch. Hell, the Flash is an absolutely beautiful book that has been better than it had any right to be. 18 issues in and I am only now dropping Animal Man, Batman, Nightwing, and Swamp Thing because they offered me convenient dropping off points but I picked up Green Arrow 2 issues ago because Lemire took over writing and the book has been pretty interesting since. While I whittled down the 4 Green Lantern books to only the core GL title, I stood by it and I am excited to see where it goes when Vendetti takes over and Hal Jordan is the focus again.

All things considered, yeah, I am reading less DC books now than I was prior to Flashpoint but it could be worse. I could be reading no DC books. :smt102
