I'm going to place money on this cartoon knocking the shit out of that ghey ass movie this summer. LOL! See Sommers, not EVERY character needs to be clad in fucking black leather to be cool

Warning: Fanboy rant below
But...

1. In episode two at 2:45 did Snake-Eyes really snap the guards neck AND stab him with a sword? Really? I'm pretty sure he was dead the first time you killed 'em Snake. LOL!

2. Grenades are not incendiary in nature. When oh when will Hollywood ever get this. :smt011

3. Shut up commie!! Bazooka was hysterical and now you've made Alpine cry.

4. I miss the original voices. Call me sentimental but I do. And I'm sick to death of Steven Blum being in everything. He doesn't even change his voice for different roles. It's just the same fucking voice every time. Steven, you sir are no Frank Welker.

He loves the Spike voice. But he can do a different voices. It all depends on what the VA director wants out of him.

The movie that is coming out later this summer resembles nothing like anything related to GI Joe that I have ever seen.

The animated movie will air on Adultswim next friday night, they are just showing the little webisodes to get people hyped about it!

They could... even with Chuck Norris

Yeah, I don't get the rehashed plot lines bit, either. :?

If you can't see all Ellis did was rehash a Sunbow plot and add his little deaths so people would talk about how cool of a writer when all you have to do is watch the original cartoon.

Let's recap.

Sunbow: Cobra attacks with a new unstoppable threat. Cobra knocks down GIJoe. GIJoe gets back up. GIJoe stops Cobra's new unstoppable threat. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Warren Ellis: Cobra attacks with a new unstoppable threat. Cobra knocks down GIJoe. GIJoe gets back up. GIJoe stops Cobra's new unstoppable threat. Lather, rinse, repeat.

And it's not like we haven't seen Cobra's evil new weapon consisting of satellites launched into space.

Ooooooh. So we're talking "in the most basic way possible?"

Eh. That's avoiding the plot all together, though. That's almost saying Ellis is rehashing old Sunbow plots because he's featuring Duke and Cobra Commander instead of all new creations. This is a franchise that sort of has some rules you have to follow. What? Do you want Cobra to NOT try to conquer the planet? That would be sort of boring, honestly.

Now, if we ever get to the Cold Slither episode, I may see that you have a point. Right now. Not seeing it except to say that Ellis is writing a GIJoe vs Cobra story where everything is a amped up.

Yeah, I liked seeing folks actually getting killed and whatnot. Snake Eyes was actually a threat with his sword, snapping necks and whatnot.

Was sad to see Bazooka and Bludd go, though.

:-D

if you take a look at the first three GIJoe mini-series... ARAH, Revenge of Cobra, and Pyramid of Darkness, they are essentially the same cartoon using different characters and a different Cobra weapon - MASS Device, Weather Dominator, POD. I see Resolute as no different except now people die... hardly groundbreaking.

Don't get me wrong, I still think its an awesome update, the animation and character redesign is very good, I'm just not impressed with the story.

At least Arise Serpentor Arise exchanged the chase over the Cobra weapon to the chase over a Cobra character.

C'mon, COL.

By your definition, everything is a rehash of something.

Like most things, though, it's not the plot but the execution that matters.

Which begs the question, is the death necessary, or is it just window dressing to make people say "THAT WAS EXTREME!"
