I just settled my case from getting hit in 2009 and have permanent damage to my spine. If you have back pain, DON'T wait to see a doctor!!! Because you are the victim of a car crash doctors will assume and treat you as a conartist or a drug addict trying to score pills untill you prove your not. If the only way to see a doctor Tomorow is the ER, insist on getting MRIs. Bring the police report and photos of your wreced car with you to every doctors visite. They will asume you are exaggerating unless you have photos, x-rays, or MRIs.
If you do have an injury that will cost you more than your PIP coverage, get a Atturny immediatly. But get a referral directly from the Bar Assosiation in the state were the accident happened. The only exception would be one that is in your social circle and would have serious social consiqences for screwing you over. I ended up getting a bad Atturny that tried to screw me over. He corrnered me in to settling for a fraction of what I should have gotten when I was willing to go all the way to trial if nessisary. Then he tried to get me sine a contract with no time frame as to when my self or my creditors, doctors, and Lein holders would get paid for the settlement. Though the defendant and her insurance company would be immediatly off the hook.
