Wife and I are taking the kids out and leaving a bowl of candy on the porch.

Trick or treat is only from 6-8 pm here. Parents are "supposed" to walk around with them, but one year I did the bowl on the porch, because I had to run down the street real quick, and ten minutes later it was empty including the bowl of baby toys for little ones.

Wow, yeah we've done that a couple times and been lucky. Though in a way if all the candy is gone good! Less to munch on after.

As a religious scholar, shit like this annoys me.

None of us are sure who's gonna get shot here, what?

You mean as regards to Samhain & All Saints Day?

You could be mean and just put an empty bowl out, then look surprised and disappointed when the kids tell you there's no candy. "I JUST put that out there!"

At least not shot over Halloween. Maybe in some political thread, but not Halloween.

I don't even remember writing this post...

Anyways, I'm guessing that drunk me took affront to religious types getting upset at Halloween, as at it's roots, it is a religious celebration, and in modern times is a fun meaningless holiday.

That's my best guess.

Oh then I agree! (whew!)

I think everyone should know the history of that sort of thing in general at least, they don't have to achieve scholar level or anything but a wider scale of view gives a better sense of perspective and makes it harder for people to be manipulated by demigoguery.

What'd you guys end up doing? I got stuck at a party in Gahanna and never made it down to the shop. I know 3 people who've gotten DUIs this year on holidays so I'm paranoid of even being even slightly inebriated when driving across town.

We did the High Ball and putzed around downtown until we ended up at The Piano Bar there. We were going to do campus, but when the missus decided to pass for the night, we decided to go straight for the meaty stuff.

One of my friends ended up getting kind of sick so we headed home a little early. We had a DD, so it was all good.

Just hope that's the only thing you've done while in a drunken blackout.

It really wasn't a blackout. I remember getting home and talking to the missus. I just don't remember writing the post. Chances are it was right before I went to bed. There'll be times where I post on Facebook or here while I'm falling asleep and not remember it the next morning.

I sleep-post according to Darcie.

Well you are at least playing the part of modern Peter Parker who drinks enough to not remember the things the next morning.
