Are they all worth it?

I just finished The Wire today and have slowly been working through all the seasons of Entourage.

What about the rest of them like Rome, Deadwood, and Six Feet Under? Are they worth checking out on Netflix?

Not really Show like you have listed, but I love watching Real Time With Bill Maher.

Let's see.............Rome was OK and had some nice nudity in it, but was only a time killer as it rushed through history. Lots of sex and violence. Deadwood was just one big swearfest in a mudhole with some nudity and violence. If you like the deconstruction of the western, you may like it. Sorry, I never watched Six Feet Under but I understand that Dexter was a lead in it.

I feel like this thread will be more successful tomorrow morning when some more TV-inclined people like Reek and KOC get on.

Rome and Deadwood are both really good shows. Both have tight acting and writing.

I never cared for Six Feet Under.

I highly recommend Deadwood, Rome, OZ and the Sopranos.

*edit* I forgot Real Time with Bill Maher.

Carnival was cool. Until they canceled it. Wire and Real Time are the only other HBO shows I gives a fuck about. Sorry.

Rome had Titus Pollo and when the series switched in S2 to Marc Anthony it rocked. Plus it really had some sweet kills to it.

Deadwood S1-2 where fantastic but S3 leaves one a little flat.

Never cared much for Six Feet or Sopronos.

We've seen most of Big Love. It's wonderfuly written, and if you don't let the polygamy get in the way, it's a terrific story with some crazy characters and events.

We might start watching Rome in a few weeks, once episide 21 hits On Demand and I know I have all the episodes to watch straight through.

You would in fact be correct. 8)

Deadwood is so much fun. It's worth the set price alone to watch Ian McShane as Al Swearengen. Nevermind the fact that the rest of the cast is perfect too.

Six Feet Under is one of my top 5 all-time favorite shows. I cannot recommend it enough. And it has in my opinion the greatest series finale ever. Absolute perfection.

I shall now rank the HBO shows in my order of preference.

1. Carnivale - this show had it all, and then some. A good cast, great writing and acting, a rich mythology to work with.. it was as close to a Vertigo book as I've ever seen a show come to.

2. Entourage - One of my favorite shows of all-time. It's just downright fun.

3. Rome - Really good.. I wanted to hate it at first, because HBO replaced Carnivale with this, but I found myself loving it alot.

4. The Wire - I'm still working my way through the first season, but I like it alot.

5. Six Feet Under - Not everyone's cup of tea, but I thought it was good.

6. Deadwood - I don't like it nearly as much as most people, because I CAN'T STAND westerns.. but it wasn't bad.

7. The Sopranos - I'm sure this is at the top of most people's lists, but I couldn't get into it. It's very boring.

I've never seen it. I never watch it when it's on HBO, because I can't watch something without starting at the beginning.. and I've just never gotten around to getting the DVDs.
