Hellboy: The Companion

Postby Lord Simian » Sat May 24, 2008 1:43 am

So, I bought this book on my lunch break at my LCS.

It's an extremely in-depth guide to Mignola's Hellboy series, a series which I'm ashamed to admit I'm far behind on. I love me some Hellboy, but I don't think I've managed to follow him since WAKE THE DEVIL. :(

But, that notwithstanding, if you're a fan of Hellboy, or even just a fan of the movie, or even if you just think you might like to check out the TPB's... get this book. It's AWESOME.

And it has the greatest line I've ever read in it. I quote:

"Abe was shot and tortured with a hot poker by a monkey."

That's fanatastic. :D

I've never read any Hellboy, I'm ashamed to admit, but I did see the trailer yesterday to the movie and thought it looked even better than the first one... and I actually liked the first one.

I loved the first one. I haven't read any Hellboy though. It's kind of sort of on my list.

I have an excuse: compiling a great Alan Moore section in my personal library. What's yours?

If you quit smoking, you could probably have most of those in under a year ;)

How much DMZ do you have? I have the first three volumes if you want em. I also have some 100 Bullets single issues if you're interested (50-86 I think)

actually I'm caught up on DMZ (although I haven't read the last trade yet, it's in my pile to read)

I'm about half way through 100 Bullets, and I love to collect trades, but thanks.

And as for the smoking comment: If I wanted to hear my husbands comments I'd go wake him up! ;-)

I'm just saying, man. If I didn't stop smoking/buying smokes, I wouldn't be able to afford all the clothes I bought last winter.

Yeah, I know. I really do. The money I burn up on that shit is ridiculous. I'm can't really argue with you at all on that one. :(

pfft, the safety and comfort of Alan Moore's beard will protect me from you haters.

But since you all insist, I'll order the first trade when next I order books from online-land. I think that will be soon.
