I'll be honest, the first time I heard "Hunger Games" mentioned I thought it was some charity or something.

I was waiting for zombies to show up when I was reading it.

When I bought it I also bought another book with zombies and got the premises mixed up.

It did 20 million at midnight alone. I'm reading the first book and my wife and I are going Thursday afternoon to see the movie.

I saw it earlier today. They did a good job. It wasn't quite as brutal as the book.
However, Liefeld is an enigma wrapped in a pouch-filled, muscular, footless conundrum.

I just started the chapter in the arena.

That has been the common description. Still I never heard of battle Royale until this thread and I'm almost forty.

Just saw it. Sort of a snoozefest.
I'm annoyed that they basically glossed over all the violent parts of the story (what little there were to begin with) with quick cuts and shaky cam where you could barely see what was happening. Completely misses the whole point of the event to gloss over the brutality like that.

That is 100% what it is. It's a dumbed down Battle Royale, with less of a focus on the violence, and more on the stupid relationshippy crap.

To be honest my chick told me about the book a few weeks ago and Battle Royale rip off was the first thing that came to my mind.

I just saw it... never read the book(s) and rather enjoyed it.
Jennifer Lawrence is a great actress.

Just got back from it. I enjoyed it, although I think my wife liked it more.

Went to see Casa De Mi Padre tonight, but it got out at the same time as one of the 8324 showings of Hunger Games and the parking garage was a complete pain in the ass to leave. As a result, I now change my opinion from one of ambivalence to one of pure hatred for this movie.
