Sad update on the current condition of comedian Joan Rivers, who has been in a Manhattan hospital since Thursday after complications due to throat surgery: According to the New York Daily News, Joan Rivers is on life support, and “family members [are standing] vigil” at the hospital. This comes soon after daughter
Melissa, who rushed to NYC once the shocking news broke to be at her mother’s side, released a statement saying that Rivers’ condition was “serious.”

“My mother would be so touched by the tributes and prayers that we have received from around the world. Her condition remains serious but she is receiving the best treatment and care possible. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts as we pray for her recovery.”
According to TMZ, Rivers is currently “completely reliant on machines to stay alive,” but the family is remaining hopeful. They will reportedly make a decision within the next couple of days whether or not to turn off the machines, in hopes that Rivers’ condition will turn around without life support.

Rivers, who is 81, was hospitalized after she stopped breathing during a routine throat surgery, and she was rushed to Mount Sinai hospital in NYC after she went into ”cardiac or respiratory arrest.” She was then put into a medically induced coma by doctors, and said to be in a stable condition as of yesterday.

I've been following this. It seems like every time there's an update, she gets worse. Although there are times when a medically-induced coma is a good thing but then there is always the possibility that they may not be able to wake her later on.

I have read so many hateful things towards her since this happened. I'm glad this thread hasn't become that.

Her sense of humour does not mix with everyone.

It may not but to wish I'll will about someone or to say things like she deserves to die is horrible.

Yeah, she can be a bit of a Jerk Ass, but I agree that no one should be kicking her when she's down like this.

I'll miss her if she doesn't pull through.

Joan is a breath of fresh air in this PC controlled world.

She doesn't give a fuck who she defends or pisses off and rarely apologizes for anything.

A commendable person in this apology-ridden world.

Interesting. So it's cool for her to not be PC and to "[not] give a fuck who she defends or pisses off", but when someone else does something like that, everyone's all disgusted.

Well, I can't say I'm surprised at this hypocrisy...
