He was in his home. Not threatened. He shot 1 guy who was running away, not threatened.

Goetz claimed they brandished screwdrivers IIRC.

He just was acquitted of the worse crimes.

Somehow I feel you have more assets, though, for the civil suit than Goetz did.

and crimes low now. People's attitudes are different.

And civil law is totally different than criminal law. It doesnt matter what a civil court told him.

And crimes not low in Houston where this crime took place

So you basically have just stated something without any precedent to back it up

Goetz was one case.

You're gong to the well alot using that one.

And he was free to go outside and once he did he felt threatened. Stand Your Ground Law states he's legally in the right to do so. You keep bringing that up like it makes a difference that he left his home

Goetz claimed they brandished screwdrivers IIRC.

Wrong. He never claimed anything of the sort. He admitted he didnt think they were armed

But the law doesn't say they have to be armed.

The New York State legal standard for the self defense justification use of deadly force shifted after rulings in the case. New York jurors are now told to consider a defendant's background and to consider whether a reasonable person would feel imperiled if that reasonable person was the defendant.

So, if in fact I'm outnumbered and being threatened, I can shoot the motherfuckers.

You should really consider changing professions. Maybe something more your speed like the counter at Chick Fil-A

i'm sorry, where did i get "pwned"? you brought up one case that uses the same standard i gave you earlier -- an objectively reasonable person standard. you're just using your views and beliefs to determine what is objectively reasonable to this particular instance differently than i am. which is why, as i said before, the objectively reasonable person is nothing more than a legal fiction.

as long as you're a TExan (no matter where you are) it's alright.

Or you'd think it would e with the way some are arguing the validity of shooting someone in the back when their life's not in danger.

And Joe Horn is another. Now state your own evidence that leads you to believe otherwise. You're the one making statements that he'd be in jail elsewhere

Which is the way it should be. State Law enforcement is NOT a Federal matter.

See, that's my thing with this. Houston is HORRIBLE. If I was an old man living there, I'd be scared to death if I saw someone breaking into the house next door. Someone will probably kill him now though anyway, just to prove a point.
