Hard to say. It's not as easy as it once was to call out the bad from the good early on or with a simple look.
For some, they look great, start promising but then fizzle out for one reason or another. Others are just bad from
start to finish while some start out poorly and then get good. But then some of those go bad towards the end.
Then there's sifting through the fluff from the charming from the action, from the crazy, from the stupid.

But it's always how they hit you when you watch them that has the biggest impact for enjoyment. There were some last season I was liking and then they just ended. Of in the case of Valvrave, abruptly ended and badly. It was the Tomino 80s all over again with that one.

Well, three episodes in will tell for most. Usually does.

"Are you capable of speaking without flapping your hands about?"
""Timey" what? "Timey wimey"?"

And the Herald signal had gone up with that post.

That thing looks like total crap to me. But then, so did the anime.

Novelist Kaworu Kurosaki revealed during her Otakon Vegas panel on Friday that the new Rurouni Kenshin spinoff manga, which her husband Nobuhiro Watsuki is now preparing, will be about enemy characters. She invited the panel's audience to suggest which characters should get the spotlight, and she promised to give those suggestions — Enishi and Yumi — to Watsuki.

Sega's Hero Bank 'Money Battle RPG' Listed With Anime
The official Sega Store on Enterbrain's online shopping site Ebten lists the Hero Bank game with "a Spring 2014 anime adaptation green-lit." The listing adds that the franchise will expand beyond the Nintendo 3DS "money battle role-playing game" with a television anime after the game's March 20 release.

The game centers around Kaito, an elementary school boy who is suddenly burdened with 10 billion yen (about US$100 million) in debt one day. The only way he can pay off the debt is to master "Hero-Gi" (downloaded off the net) and win matches in "Hero Battle," a new-generation cyber sport. The tagline of the game "Change your money with justice!"

Here is the opening movie for the game:

I've been skeptical since he first announced it... but I dunno if this is verification.

Is Hayao Miyazaki Un-Retiring, Again?

Hayao Miyazaki may be revoking his plan to retire and returning to animation, according to a poster on Reddit. The original report stems from a Japanese blogger who claims that Miyazaki made the announcement during a New Year’s Eve radio broadcast.

Whether it ends or not, that's a pretty healthy run.

Saint Seiya Omega Kakusei Box Lists Episode 97 as Last One

Bandai Visual lists the Blu-ray and DVD boxes for the Saint Seiya Omega anime series' Omega Kakusei (Omega Awakening) arc as the "final volume," and they also list episode 97 as the final episode.

Bandai Visual also listed the 13th Blu-ray/DVD volume (with episodes 49-51) of the anime as the "final volume" last year. However, a new arc, the New Cloth arc, debuted at episode 52 last April.

Psst... lame run too. The classic was far better, IMO.

Okay, well I've managed to get to watch some of the new season of anime, now that a good sized number of them have started up. So here are the initial ratings and rankings including the continuing anime... so far.

Gundam Unicorn ***/***
Ghost in the Shell Arise ***/***
Witch Craft Works ***/*** - The best so far. Good animation to great animation. The action sequences are very nicely done. Music is awesome with the show. Characters are showing promise and so is the tired cliche. Extremely well paced and not slow as with most anime. Quirky and weird in a good way. Oh yes, it has Killer Robot Bunnies. Killer Bunnies. Killer Bunnies that love to be violent. Killer Bunnies that if left alone will start fighting one another. Killer Bunnies. :-D Also, one of the best end themes yet. (It's the enemy witches in it singing)

Kill la Kill **/***
The Pilot's Love Song **/*** - Well animated series set in an alternate world with flying islands, flying battleships and such. Nice characters, plenty of potential.

Magical Warfare **/*** - Kind of an alternative to Tokyo Ravens, sort of. Basically, teens find out they have magic powers when they are triggered. Secret society of magic users, cliche, cliche.. not a bad time killer.
Tokyo Ravens **/***
Saint Seiya Omega **/***
Buddy Complex **/*** - Forgetable giant tobot show with middle of the road animation, designs and cliched plot involving time travel.

Gundam Build Fighters **/***

Off to watch Space Dandy. More to come over the weekend for quick reviews and thoughts.
