Really enjoying this after that stupid Age show just killed it for me following the high note 00 left. House of Cards should provide enough space between then and now.

BTW, just saw the Eureka Seven sequel. It's like a 'what if DC handled an anime retcon' with how it ended

Wasn't that bad outside of the annoying main villain, but that ending makes the logical part of my mind that processes time travel just shut down. Nothing computes

Stay away from Gundam Builders. It will make you miss the quality of AGE. :smt011

About Neon Genesis Evangelion, did you only watch the anime or did you read the manga as well? I'd say they both complement each other quite nicely, and there is probably more depth in the manga.

I watched the anime and it needed to stand on it's own as a story, not depend on a manga to complete it. I did hear the manga was a bit deeper, as you say, but I just have never been interested.

One day, I shall have that. It will look rather good with all the others.

"Round it in the end and you've got a hit!", sadly that's the one disappointing aspect of the anime: the end feels rather inconclusive. There are many things that happen in the manga after the ending of the anime, and there it does feel conclusive.

Reminds me of Eden of the East's opening music being scrapped from the US broadcast despite there being literally no competition which version was better, probably my fave opening in ages:

The original that played through every episode in Japan:

The US version on Funimation (ignore the title, it wasn't the original):

Maybe when you license a song for the US markets the costs are exponential compared to Japan.....so if it's not worth the trouble they don't bother. I can guess that's what happened in the EoTE case. If the artist of the original is big maybe he wanted more $$$

Weird. For Zeta Gundam, I know Sedaka didn't want his music used for some reason... Haven't heard anything about Space Dandy and the soundtrack (single I guess) is up on the US iTunes store (yes I bought it). Wonder what the tie up was...

For Sedaka it was about the money he would receive, as in not enough.

What can stop these from happening can range from payments among all the parties or even conflicts in distribution rights that could just simply lay with the music companies themselves.

Escaflowne had it's opening altered for the American broadcast as well as the actual arrangement of the OST. Different punctuations it seemed.

On of the best choices I think, was back when Jim Terry did Force Five and chose to use the actual openings and music but sans vocals. Makes for wonderful nostalgia when I decide to watch a fansub of Getter Robo G and there it is, just no text in English and with singing included.

Gatchaman/Battle of the Planets was similar. Same music but sans singing.

When Fox was airing Escaflowne, they had their typical short intro with generic music so it didn't really bother me. I do hate it when they do it for the DVD release though.
