Fairy Tail Manga to Run in 5 Magazines This Spring

Manga creator Hiro Mashima announced on Friday that Kodansha will publish four special one-shot chapters of his Fairy Tail series in March and April. This year's 13th issue of Weekly Shōnen Magazine is confirming the "Fairy Tail Matsuri" (Fairy Tail Festival) campaign's schedule on Wednesday.

Each full-size chapter will be at least 20 pages in length. The April issue of Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine will feature the character Frosch and the Sabertooth guild on March 8. This year's 4th issue of Magazine Special will include a Juvia and Gray chapter on March 20. This year's 18th issue of Young Magazine will feature Erza on March 31. The May issue of Monthly Shonen Magazine will publish a special chapter with Natsu, Lucy, and a mystery character on April 5. These will be the first works that Mashima has published in Young Magazine and Monthly Shonen Magazine.

Sumo Manga Notari Matsutaro by Ashita no Joe's Chiba Gets TV Anime

Notari Matsutaro, the sumo hero manga by boxing manga Ashita no Joe's creator Tetsuya Chiba, is inspiring a television anime 16 years after the manga's end. Abarenbō Rikishi!! Matsutarō (Roughneck Sumo Wrestler!! Matsutarō) will premiere on the TV Asahi network at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 6.

The story follows Matsutarō Sakaguchi, a giant roughneck man with strength far beyond ordinary people. He never uttered words like "work hard," "strive," and "dream" like the typical shōnen manga protagonist. However, he is stronger than anyone and peerless in sumo wrestling. His greatest weakness is his own carefree personality. He grows into a full-fledged sumo westler.

Saint Seiya Omega TV Anime to End in March

The Oricon news source confirmed on Monday that the Saint Seiya Omega television anime will end in March. The anime is now airing on the TV Asahi network at 6:30 a.m. on Sundays; Abarenbō Rikishi!! Matsutarō, the anime of Tetsuya Chiba's sumo manga Notari Matsutaro, will take over the timeslot on April 6.

Tsukudani's Cross-Dressing 4-Panel Manga Himegoto Gets Anime

Vol. 16 of Ichijinsha's WAaI! magazine is announcing on Tuesday that an anime adaptation of Norio Tsukudani's four-panel manga Himegoto is "finally" launching.

The story follows Hime Arikawa, a boy who is being chased down by scary pepople. However, he is rescued from danger by the girls in his school's student council. The student council will assume Arikawa's debt under one condition: "As the student council's dog, you will spend your high school life in women's clothes."

Squid Girl Manga Gets New Original Video Anime in September

This year's 13th issue of Akita Shoten's Shōnen Champion magazine is announcing on Thursday that Masahiro Anbe's 17th Squid Girl (Shinryaku! Ika Musume) manga volume will bundle an original video anime. Unlike the two previous original video anime releases, this September 9 limited edition will bundle a Blu-ray Disc instead of a DVD.

According to the official Monthly Comic Zenon website, writer Yūshi Kawata and artist Yukito will publish a special chapter of Fist of the North Star in the May issue of Comic Zenon on March 25.

Short Film Project "Ghost in The Shell ARISE border: less project" Announced

Japanese film director Katsuyuki Motohiro, who is best known for his mega-hit TV/film drama series Odoru Daisousasen/Bayside Shakedown starring Yuji Oda, announced a new short film project called "Ghost in the Shell ARISE: border:less project" at Sanuki Film Festival 2014 on February 22.

Motohiro announced that 5 young film makers selected by him will create short films based on or inspired by the world of the on-going OVA series Ghost in the Shell ARISE. He will join one of the films as the general director.

Pupa's Sayaka Mogi Starts Horror Manga Ao no Haha

The preview for the May issue of Futabasha's Monthly Action magazine announced on Tuesday that Pupa manga creator Sayaka Mogi will begin serializing the new manga titled Ao no Haha (Mother of Blue) in the issue, which is scheduled to ship in Japan on March 24.

The manga revolves around a young woman who during a ceremony sees a doll that looks exactly like herself. Captured by the heartless actions of the village, she is thrown once again into a world of nightmares. Why were the dolls created? In addition, who and what is the “Blue Mother?” The magazine has the tagline, "In the village where humans and dolls mix, she lives in a nightmare, cursed with a sad fate."

New Eat-Man Manga to Start in Monthly Shōnen Sirius

Kodansha's Monthly Shōnen Sirius magazine announced in its next issue preview on Wednesday that manga creator Akihito Yoshitomi's Eat-Man manga will have a new series published in the magazine beginning on May 26 in the June issue. The title of the newest addition to the series will be announced in the April issue of Shōnen Sirius, which is scheduled to be released in Japan on March 26.

Kodansha also announced that beginning March 26, the manga will be re-released one chapter per week on Nico Nico through Suiyōbi no Sirius (Wednesday Sirius).

Princess Jellyfish's Higashimura Launches Tokyo Tarareba-jou Manga

This year's April issue of Kodansha's Kiss magazine, which shipped on Monday, announced that Akiko Higashimura will launch a new series, titled Tokyo Tarareba-jou) (Tokyo "What If" Girls), in the magazine's May issue, which ships on March 24. The ad also mentions that Higashimura's Princess Jellyfish (Kuragehime) will resume publication in the magazine's November issue, which ships July 25.

The new series will center on the love stories of three women who are around thirty during a Tokyo Olympics. The ad states that it is an "urban, sexy, fabulous, and bittersweet Tokyo story."
