Hibi Rock Manga Gets Film This Fall

This year's 14th issue of Shueisha's Young Jump magazine is announcing on Thursday that a film adaptation of Katsumasa Enokiya's Hibi Rock (Days Rock) manga has been green-lit. The announcement does not specify if the film will be live-action of animated. The film will premiere this fall in Japan with director Yū Irie helming the project, and Shuhei Nomura is leading the cast as Takurō Hibinuma. A website for the film will open on Thursday.

The manga revolves around Takurō Hibinuma, a third-year in high school. He is a boy who gets bullied, and has no talent in studying or sports, but the only thing he can call his own is "rock." He experiences many things through music, and aims to become a rock star.

Otomate's Norn9 Game for Female Players Gets Anime

Idea Factory/Design Factory's Otomate brand announced that Norn9 - Norn + Nonette, its PSP otome game for female players, has an anime in the works. Otomate made the announcement at the "Norn9 with Ark & for Spica" event at Tokyo's Nakano Sun Plaza on Sunday. The event also announced the sale of character image songs produced by composer Kevin Penkin and a PlayStation Vita port of Norn9.

In the game, the player can choose between three different girls as the heroine, each with their own three male characters to romance. A certain song transports a boy named Sorata Suzuhara to a different era and place.

When Sorata regains consciousness, he finds himself standing in an unfamiliar place — an old town, awash with sepia tones. The scene is exactly like the Meiji and Taishō-era pictures he had seen in textbooks. He encounters three girls and nine young men in this world, and embarks on a journey in the skies with them and the giant Norn airship.
