First off.. the intro.. commercials and trailer-ish things?! AWESOME. Count me in as one of the people who WELCOMES the cinematic feel of the game, and this just adds to it.

Also.. not really a MGS4 thing, but it's somewhat related.. I just read PSN will have the original Metal Gear Solid available to download in a few weeks!!

Dunno the price, but going by the other PS1 games on there, it'll probably be $5.99.

It's actually pretty cool.. it all ties in to the game. And (so far) it's only in the intro. The first thing you see when you start the game is a live action thing.. it's a chef and some TV show host, in a bizarre cooking show set in a bomb shelter with a war going on outside. It's about a minute long and ends with the chef pullling out a snake and saying it's time for the ceremonial cutting of the snake, or something like that.. and he says something like "this is the end of this snake's story".. I don't remember, but that's the gist of it. Then it cuts to black, and there's a CGI commercial of sorts for something that's story-related.

When I read they were having some 90 minute cut scenes I was stunned. Can you skip that crap? I play games to play not watch movies.

OMG!

Between this and Castlevania: SOTN which I already have, these are the only PS1 games that are still worth playing!

I think you can skip it, but honestly, this game isn't for you then. I think after three MGS games, it's pretty clear who the fans are and who just don't like the game.. not everyone likes cutscenes, and that's cool.

Personally, I love it. I like MGS, first and foremost, for the story. I'm here to be entertained.

I've heard that there's about 10 hours of cutscenes, and the game is 30 hours total.. that could be way off, but I just overheard it last night waiting in line for it. So that's still more gameplay than cutscenes.

But still, how is it different from sitting down to watch a movie? It's all about the story for me.

It sounds like a lot of fun.

I wish it would come out for the 360. :(

I'm normally not a fan of the series. I don't like stealth games but I'm considering picking this up. I need something new after finishing GTA IV last night.

I know.

I read somewhere that it would take like 2-3 DVDs to hold the amount of data on the MGS4 disc.

I'll have to pony up and buy a PS3 eventually or wait until my parents are in the market for a Blu-Ray player.

If you're not a fan of stealth games, this is the MGS for you.

Because of the nature of the game, with it being set in the middle of a war, you can do either. You can be stealthy, or you can go guns a' blazin.

However.. the story is pretty heavy. As awesome as this game is, I wouldnt' recommend a complete MGS newbie dive into it without at least reading up on the first two MGS games. Alot of it is explained, but still.
