Mark Ruffalo Signs Six-film Deal For The Hulk

The Avengers star Mark Ruffalo has landed a six-film deal to reprise his role as The Hulk following the huge international box office success of the new superhero movie.

The blockbuster, which also features Robert Downey, Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Renner, Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson, has already grossed $180 million (£112.5 million) worldwide and it will be released in the U.S. on Friday.

The bumper figures have prompted Marvel movie bosses to sign Ruffalo up for a series of sequels and other projects, which is likely to include a new solo outing as the green monster - and the actor admits signing on the dotted line was an easy decision to make.

He tells Collider.com, "I was so impressed and blown away by how much (director Joss Whedon) packs into this movie and how exciting it is and what a great ride it is, and how it just works on every level."

Actors Eric Bana and Edward Norton have previously portrayed The Hulk in 2003's Hulk and 2008's The Incredible Hulk, respectively.

Jackson has a similar deal in place - the Pulp Fiction star is committed to making a total of nine films as Marvel army hero Nick Fury.

That's very cool on Marvel's part. I'm not excited by these films, but I give Marvel credit for trying to build a superhero universe with their movies. The sheer size and complexity of these overlapping stories and movie productions must be dizzying.

Yeah, it's pretty shocking that Marvel would want to lock one of their stars in long-term.

Cameos and post-credits scenes count towards the deal, btw. So it's not like they're going to make 6 Hulk movies or anything.

Like I said in the other thread.. my guess is two Avengers sequels, an Incredible Hulk sequel, and smaller roles in a SHIELD/Nick Fury movie, Iron Man 3 maybe, and something like Ant-Man

I confess that was actually my first thought and then I came to the same conclusions you did.

Well, as he said, cameos and small roles count, so... For example, Sam Jackson signed a 9 picture deal, and he's almost halfway finished with that. 2 Iron Man movies, Cap, and now Avengers....

You figure they're planning one, hoping for two Hulks. Add Avengers 2, the rumored Iron Man 3 if it does include him, that's four films out of six already...

Admittedly, if they did a live-action Planet Hulk movie, that would make me a giddy fanboy.

I would love a live action Planet Hulk as well as the next guy, but it'll never happen.

What I am hoping for is a She Hulk appearance. 8)
