The fans excuse a lot...but they'll have to really do backbends to excuse that "everybody smile" musical montage after dude got headshot.

Maybe it's just me, but this reminded me of Torchwood & the first episode of Angel's 5th season (where they joined Wolfram & Hart and had to prevent a person from exploding).

But... but... we all saw Fantastic Four... you gotta give us this...
"Why are you pointing your screwdrivers like that? They're scientific instruments, not water pistols."
"Oh, the pointing again! They're screwdrivers! What are you going to do? Assemble a cabinet at them?"
"Are you capable of speaking without flapping your hands about?"
""Timey" what? "Timey wimey"?"

a few flaws but overall it was pretty damn good. The flying car made me smile. :-D

Yeah. Part of it was the music.

The end with the flying car was both sweet and cornball.[/blackout]

To be honest, that was a lackluster and kind of boring start up. Give it time and maybe it'll rock, but otherwise... not all that great.
Given that Whedon has had two shows clunk out, this one could as well.

It was better the second time with the Riifftrax commentary. Then it was hilarious, while showing how crappy the movie really is.

If it were the first issue of a comic book I would drop it, but there's no risk involved with free TV except feeling like you could have better spent your time watching Room 237, the new documentary about The Shining movie.

The Avengers movie, despite all it's flaws, made a ton of cash and might be spawning a successful franchise. Couldn't they have gotten all sorts of good actors to audition for SHIELD? It felt like a bunch of talent agents threw the cast together over martinis for lunch to try and make TV actors of them and get their cuts.

I loved this.

Geeked out at the flying car, but the CGI as it was flying off was really really bad.

Coulson is an LMD.

I like the characters. Some mystery surrounding May and Ward, which is good.

I was not impressed. Phil didn't seem cool to me. The two young science agents annoyed me. The hacker girl, Sky, wasn't interesting and her cleavage shot was cheap. The straight guy agent could be okay if the show revolved around him and Ming-Na Wen's character who was the only one I found interesting.

Oh, the Helicar was dumb.

Also, the mystery bad guys using alien, Supersoldier, gamma radiation and Extremis was overkill, at least for the first episode.

On the plus side, the nods to the movies was kinda cool. The mystery of Coulson's trip to Tahiti is interesting. (I once heard a theory that Coulson was actually the Vision.)

Will watch again, but happy I went in reasonable expectations.

I thought it was OK. It had its moments. I've always loved Ming-Na so the more they have of her in this show in the future, the more I will like it.

I thought Hill and Coulson both gave rather flat performances, which surprised me since they were both so good previously. Though Coulson had a few good moments, like the truth serum part.

I thought the speech at the end was incredibly heavy-handed and rather badly written.

If I were going to score this, I'd give it a B-.

Damn. Haters be hatin' all up in this piece.

I enjoyed it quite a bit. Some of the team doesn't work for me yet (the two science Brits were annoying), but on the whole good stuff.

And the flying car was fucking awesome and anybody who says otherwise should be permabanned, hung, resurrected, and then shot in the balls.
