I will definitely see it when it is available at the Redbox.

I am just not a fan of Whedon's writing, I know there will probably be parts of the movie I will greatly enjoy.

Definitely. That's the one my wife is looking forward to the most, as well. It's also, I would assume, the one most directly leading into Avengers 2, if they stick to the stated plan of "the next round of films build to the Avengers 2 story".

I would like to seem him play on the side of the angels for the second film. Guess it depends on what it is going to be about though.

I can understand that. I am not a Whedon fan.

I don't like Buffy.
I didn't watch Firefly.
I hated his run on Runaways.
I did like Astonishing X-Men.

But this is the Avengers. It is not your typical Whedon stuff.

I really do think you should reconsider. Everybody needs to watch this movie.

Yes his portrayal of Loki is just spot on perfection. He doesn't even have to say anything, just the smirks and condescending looks he gives just nail the character. Then when he delivers the lines he is so amazing!

I am big Whedon fan:

Loved Buffy and even more so Angel.
Love Firefly and Serenity.
Didn't read Runaways because I wasn't interested in the characters enough.
I think he was hit and miss on his X-Men stories.

That said I agree this is something totally different but I doubt that anyone other than Whedon could have been as successful as he was with this movie.

That also being said I think the problem people have with LobsterJ right now is not his refusal to see the movie but his saying that the movie is the worst without even giving the movie so much a chance.

I could care less if he loved it or hated it or never watched, I think it is perfection and nothing anyone else says will change my mind about that. It's his, and whoever else that chooses not to see it, loss because it was one damn great movie!

After seeing this movie, I feel that every other superhero movie ever has been...well...sorta holding themselves back. This movie pulled out all the stops and delivered all those moments you wanted to see from every other superhero movie but never got. Thor landing on the back of a (quin?)jet. Iron Man flying a nuclear missile into another dimension. The Hulk smashing the ever-loving shit out of Loki. The slugfest between Thor and the Hulk. Captain America showing not just that he kicks ass, but why people are willing to follow his word. MUTHA-FUCKIN' THANOS, picture-perfect and instantly recognizable.

I mean, the pure, unadulterated geek-out moments that these sorts of movies have typically been afraid to indulge in for fear of being thought of as silly.

MUTHA-FUCKIN' THANOS!!!!

This movie basically took the conservative sensibilities of the mainstream audience and said, "hold on to your tits, bitch." And with the exception of Lobster J, all other accounts seem to suggest that it worked. This movie was for us, and it showed that everyone else (again with the possible exception of Lobster J) was happy to be along for the ride.

I'm 15 minutes into the movie and I already realize that this is the superhero movie I've been waiting for, just about all my mutha-fuckin' life. I got to watch it with my lifelong best friend and his young son, and I gotta tell you, watching the kid's reaction to the movie was pure gold. This is his first introduction to most of these characters, and he flipped his shit.

The movie did its job and did it well. Maybe when I have time to get all critical and shit, I'll look back and focus on the flaws, or the things they could have done better. But I figure, I'll probably have to watch it again for that. Maybe three or six more times, just to be sure...

Another cool aspect of the movie, how awesome was Hawkeye's bow and quiver! 8)

The way he controlled which heads he used remotely by buttons on his bow was sweet!

His Silence Of The Lambs scene with ScarJo was one of my favorites in the movie.

I want a copy of this movie script so I can wave it and rub it on the faces of those so called comic book writers from the last decade and yell "this is how you write a goddamn super team comic!

IMO, Marvel/Disney threw down the gauntlet with The Avengers, daring DC/Warner to top it.

Wow, just wow! I just got done watching this movie an hour ago. I had a blast. This movie delivered in every way imaginable. I haven't had that much fun in the theaters in a very long time.

Everyone stole the show, in my opinion. That's what was so great about it. There were no weak links in the chain.

But yeah, Loki was just pitch-perfect. My favourite Loki scene was the confrontation between him and Black Widow.
