The N7 Shadow. She's an Infiltrator class who focuses in melee. She's got Shadow Strike, not unlike Kasumi from ME2. Shadow Strike can be set up to actually replenish her shields (by draining an enemy's shields on contact), sorta like a Vanguard's Biotic Charge. And like a Vanguard, this power can instantly carry her across the battlefield. She also has Electric Slash with her katana, dealing a powerful area attack.
She is physically weak, but has massive damage-dealing potential. You actually benefit more from boosting her damage potential instead of her health and shields.
If you spec Tactical Cloak for Duration and Bonus Power, you can hit Cloak, then Shadow Strike a target, and then Electric Slash all while remaining Cloaked. Oh, and Electric Slash can hit enemies THROUGH WALLS.
Her basic and heavy melee attacks are both sword attacks. And Shadow Strike is considered a melee attack. So not only does it benefit from anything that boosts power damage, it also benefits from anything that boosts melee damage.
This is the first Infiltrator where you won't give a shit about what weapon you equip. Hell, the best thing to equip is a pistol light enough to give you a +200% power recharge bonus. Maybe equip the stunner mod to give you a +25% to melee damage. But if you're shooting people with this character, you're doing it wrong.
"You must be proud, bold, pleasant, resolute, And now and then stab, as occasion serves."
Then, you got the N7 Fury, the new Adept character. She looks like a cross between Kasumi (with the hood) and a Phantom.
Her Dodge is actually a teleport, which can move you through walls and cover or behind enemies.
Like Javik, she has Dark Channel. This is a power that hits like Reave, meaning enemies can't dodge it, unlike Warp. It primes Biotic Explosions. If a target dies, the effect is transferred to any nearby enemies, meaning they are also primed for a Biotic Explosion. She also has Throw, which can easily detonate entire chains of Biotic Explosions.
She's also got Annihilation Field, which is a persistent area attack centered on her own body. Anything that comes into range of her will ALSO BE PRIMED FOR A BIOTIC EXPLOSION. And it can be spec'd to increase your movement speed AND replenish your shields.
So, she is a walking explosion machine. Well...more like a running explosion machine.

Ok, I JUST now started ME3. Imported my character in, am still in Vancouver, but I have a question.
So, Sheperd was relieved of duty, and has been in a detention center. Anderson tells me I'm lucky, they woulda court martialed anyone else, etc...
But the question is, where does the Alliance get off? Where do they get the authority to discipline a frigging Spectre, an operative who according to ME1 is "answerable only to the council", at all? Does that get covered at all?

No, it's never dealt with. The man in control of the first game isn't the same man who was in charge of 2 and 3. There's a few other things that happen in Mass Effect 3 that suggest that he didn't pay enough attention to certain things that were said in and events that happened in the first game. This mistake is one of the big reasons why the story in Mass Effect 3 suffers greatly IMO.

Also. the ending SUCKS.
Yup. As I remember it, the council didn't wanna overtly support me while I was running a Cerberus op, so they said the best the could do is officially reinstate Shepard's Spectre status...
Omega DLC is out, this was supposed to be the mission that spun out of the Dark Horse prequel comic but was abandoned aka locked out of the game until we had to pay extra to access it.
