X-Men: First Class Sequel

Postby Timbales » Fri Nov 04, 2011 11:59 am

Simon Kinberg ("Mr. & Mrs Smith," "X-Men: The Last Stand," "Sherlock Holmes") has been hired to pen the first draft of a sequel to this past summer's "X-Men: First Class" at 20th Century Fox says Superhero Hype.

Kinberg served as a producer on the 60's set prequel which starred Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy. After strong reviews but only decent box-office ($350 million worldwide), the fate of a sequel wasn't certain but seemed likely.

It's presently unknown if Matthew Vaughn will be returning to the director's chair and the principal cast will reprise their roles. Ashley Edward Miller, Zack Stentz, Jane Goldman and Vaughn penned the first film.

70's? Evil mutant attack on bicentennial celebrations? Professor X at Studio 54?
However, Liefeld is an enigma wrapped in a pouch-filled, muscular, footless conundrum.

Magneto trying to prevent the Moon landing?

As much as I liked First Class, I've been ambivalent about the 60's setting, since it's now 50 in the past. Especially when you have Havok possibly being a generation older than Cyclops.

I heard a few interviews with McAvoy where he says he cant wait for a sequel. He really seems to get the characters and enjoys it, much like Patrick Stewart (who is a dude I wanna hang out with) did.

I liked the characters a lot, but thought the movie was very uneven, particularly when it came to pacing.

I'll have to watch it again. Maybe I'll have a different reaction.

I love this idea of each sequel being set in a different historical time period. The tough part is going to be spending time in every movie introducing the new cast of students.

Not really. It took what maybe 10 minutes to recruit everyone and have them meet.

I want to see Professor X doing coke off Dazzler's tits at Studio 54 through a $100 bill.

Yeah, but that's kinda the cool thing about sequels, not having to do the origin bit.

Looks like the guys are back (well writer, director, producer) for X-Men First Class 2 (second class?)

Fox has just closed a deal with Matthew Vaughn to come back and direct the sequel to X-Men: First Class, with Simon Kinberg writing the script and Bryan Singer back as producer.
