But in a case like this, it would be dishonest not to address how those outside people react in real life. And in a Marvel movie, it'd be played for yucks. They don't have the skills or the good intentions. I don't even actually believe this is anything but a ploy to get it in the online buzz.

Nobody felt the need to explain how Jessica Alba was supposed to be Chris Evan's sister in the first two Fantastic Four movies... :smt102

If I saw Michael Jordan *cough* or Donald Glover *cough* playing Johnny Storm while say, Allison Williams is playing Susan, I really wouldn't pay much attention to it. They could be half-siblings or they could be adopted and it really wouldn't make any difference.

On a thread where comic fans are questioning it. We must read different internets.

It's obviously generating the buzz they want.

Do they react differently when it's celebrities? The F4 are celebrities in the Marvel universe, so does that change the dynamic of the public accepting a multi-racial family?

I watched an interview on Oprah (with my mom, who loves Oprah) with Jane Fonda and her adopted black daughter Mary. Do people accept that relationship as okay because it's Jane Fonda? They even had Jane Fonda's biological son, who played the white guy who wanted to be black in Barbershop, on to talk about their relationship.

This is atypical. See every other thread ever on this subject.

Oh speaking of Oprah, I watched a really old 20+ year old episode they were re-airing with Jane Elliot. She instantly became one of my favorite people ever.

This debate wasn't settling with Kingpin, Nick Fury, or Heimdall but I'm sure we will settle it this time!

There was a debate on Nick Fury? His character was modeled after the actor who eventually played him. And Kingpin was the only good part of Daredevil. The Daredevil debate was having a pony play Electra. Wasn't even a Greek pony.

If they made a black character white, like say made Falcon a white dude, would that be racist?

seriously, i'd have no problem with Ben being played by a black guy. of course then i'm sure you'd get fan uproar over "oh, so it has to be the football star that's a black guy b/c everybody knows smart dude's gotta be a whitey. racist!!!"

just keep 'em all as The Man intended 'em, I say.

Black Thing would have to wear gold chains and call it Thing Bling to make it legit and believable.

I don't know, I just know we've had this conversation at least 3 times.

cries of racism inevitably fly as well because you know you can't believe a character should be portrayed the same way they've been portrayed for 50+ years without being construed as a racist
