MLB Postseason 2008 Thread

Everything but the AL Central is all wrapped up.

NLDS
Cubs v Dodgers
Brewers v Phillies

ALDS
Red Sox v Angels
Rays v Twins/White Sox

Thoughts? Predictions?

Personally, I've been on board with just about everything Joe Maddon has done so far this season, but I think its a mistake to start James Shields in Game 1. The Rays rotation should go Garza, Kazmir (and Sonnanstine as a prohibitive measure against early implosion), Shields for the ALDS. Garza has had a good year, he feeds off of emotion, and the Trop will be quaking on Thursday afternoon. Save Shields for Gm 3 in the Midwest, when you're facing either a clinch situation or a tough, must-win (as they all are) situation away from the friendly confines of St. Pete. He's your best pitcher. Put him in the toughest situation, IMO.

Nothing? No teams from New York and this thread is d-e-d ded? Shame, people!

There are so many compelling storylines. We have a potential Second City Series (not so fast, says Gabe Gross and Co.), a potential Cubs/Brewers NLCS (the more polite, but no less fierce Yankees/Red Sox of the NL), a potential Sox/Rays ALCS (which we would all hope would be the Taser Game x7) and potential ratings juggernaut Twins/Brewers World Series.

Also, Manny Ramirez and Joe Torre's mantits are involved.

I just hope that when the cubs lose it's in an embarrassing and memorable way.

I don't really care who wins as long as the Brewers, Sox, and Cubs all lose and I think this will be Anaheim's year.

I don't think the Brewers or the Rays have the starting pitching to beat the Cubs or Red Sox in a 7 game series.

Bah a little league team would probably beat them in October baseball. They are the Cubs!

Sabathia is just going to pitch every day.

Garza Shields Sonnenstine and Kazmir? I think they can hold out. The sox are most likely going to be on a three man rotation. They'll be tired.

If Beckett can come through like he did last year though, it'll be rough for the Rays.
