As Aquaman tops $1 billion dollars at the worldwide box office (on its way to becoming the biggest Warner Bros DC movie), studios are hoping for more green at the box office

The age of 'B'- and 'C'-list superhero blockbusters: Why studios are turning to lesser-known comic characters for the next box-office hit

Frankly, there is less baggage and lower expectations when it comes to the lower-profile or virtually unknown characters, and thus a recipe for under promising and over delivering can ultimately turn these B & C list heroes into box-office superheroes,” Comscore’s Dergarabedian said.

I've been saying that for ages about why WB should use Power Girl in it's other media stuff rather than SG; she has all SG's advantages, (relative of Superman---though they could change which relative, and all the Kryptonian powers and potential backstory), with none of the over-familiarity people have with SG---she's almost tabula rasa, with no set origin story apart from the general Krypton one, and no set personal circumstances, (where she has to live, her supporting cast, her rogue's gallery). But still part of the Superman Family----a more distant part, able to function without much reference to or use of Superman, Batman, or any of the major DC heroes.

More leaked stills have been released from the forthcoming Shazam trailer (due soon) but there seems to be some confusion about the release date (it was supposed to be on the 19th). The biggest problem for the new DC movie at this point is that the next Avengers movie opens two weeks after Shazam is released which will cut into its worldwide box office. More merchandise (leaked images) have been appearing too for Shazam which shows

Well, Robin-Lord Taylor changed my mind about Penguin in live action, but then I don't think they'll use him again in that role. And...damn, can we stop with the Batman Family movies already? Again, rest them for at least five years before another movie, and in the interim, give us those C and D list characters not connected to Batman as subjects of movies.

Or, you know, try and give us original movies in the manner of Wargames, Back to the Future, Raiders, Highlander Stargate, Real Genius...

I just don't see movies like that anymore, everything's a comic book, TV show adaptation, reboot, or toy franchise or star vehicle.

Latest rumors about the all-new Shazam trailer say it will be released now on the 22nd. Not a big deal since it was the 19th before. The wait will be worth it though judging from some of the leaked stills online.

Toby Emmerich on Warners Bros.' 'Crazy Rich' Year: "We All Feel Like We've Turned a Corner Now"

What does the success of Aquaman mean for the DC Universe?

We all feel like we've turned a corner now. We're playing by the DC playbook, which is very different than the Marvel playbook. We are far less focused on a shared universe. We take it one movie at a time.
