That's the thing, though. Despite the very first line of the movie telling us she dies, the final act was so well done up until when she finally dies. Doesn't matter that we know it's gonna happen, but the emotional jolt with us falling for the character and hoping for her love with the writer was well done enough for us to get invested to the point of hating that the ending is actually happening.

Your previous post about Pixar movies was all accurate.

That doesn't make it not sad, Grinch!

I like the movie, and I saw it multiple times in the theater, I just never thought it was surprising enough to cause tears. It's sad, but you are expecting it.

It's not Where The Red Fern Grows. That's a fucking punch to the gut.

Because you're expecting it doesn't make it any less sad or tear worthy. Once again, they did a good job in making you really care for the characters and their struggle to be with each other to the point that you were praying for a happy ending while knowing it won't be. And McGregor's wrecking cry when she finally goes. Damn. :-(

I rarely cry. I mist up but I don't think I cry.

I may have cried after Transformers 2 though. That movie hurt. A lot.

Is there a movie for that? Never seen it. But it is (funny enough) the only book to ever get me to cry.

Well long-form novel anyway.

Oh! Where the Wild Things Are got me rather misty eyed too. When Carol gets all feral on Max and pretty much runs him out of the island. And Carol gets emotional and runs and tries to reach Max but Max is already on the boat back home. Damn. :-(

The episode of the MASH TV series where Col. Blake dies always does it for me.

As for movies . . . Well, I cry everytime Jar Jar show up. :smt102
