I collect creepy LP covers actually.

They missed a lot of them, one of my favorites being "Mama, he's making eyes at me".

Lena Zavarone! I remember her from when I was growing up: she won a TV talent show with that song, after having been pushed into it by her nightmare of a mother. She died of anorexia in the end...

Yeah, poor girl.

Actually, I think following her lobotomy surgery she died from complications of pneumonia, but all of that could be said to be due to her life-threatening struggle with depression and anorexia. It's amazing that in 1999, our understanding of neurology was still so rudimentary and that a lobotomy was still the "cure" for a lot of people.

I honestly thought lobotomies were stopped in the 50's and 60's

In certain cases lobotomies are still done today, although the surgery no longer involves an icepick--if you have insurance.

All you young folks sucking down the prozac and paxil and other antidepressants had better thank your lucky stars you were born a couple decades later.

But Joey Ramone made them sound so fun. All the girls were in love with him, he said so.

Damn right. The Ramones could never happen today, in the musical landscape full of bankds whining about their antidepressants and how scary sex is.

I can think of quite a few people who would benefit from a lobotomy.
