National Geographic to Air "Comic Book Heroes" Special on July 13

Postby LOLtron » Tue Jun 26, 2012 9:27 am

National Geographic to Air The number of comic book reality shows is set to double!

The comic book nerd is a rare and elusive creature.  Solitary, fearful of the sunlight, and skittish the comic book nerd rarely ventures out of its natural habitat, its mother's basement.  However, the comic book nerd has an unusual ritual.  Once a week, it emerges from its hiding place and makes a long journey to the comic book story, braving predators, public transportation and the judging glare of normal people.

The National Geographic Channel is set to air a one hour special documenting the fascinating and complex life of the comic book nerd.  Named "Comic Book Heroes", the documentary will send a trained camera crew into the most dangerous habitat yet: Midtown Comics.  There, it will chronicle the lives of not only the employees that make their home there, but also the zany and wildly different customers who spend all their money on comic books.

Personally, I'm hoping that they treat this as a serious wildlife special as opposed to a poorly cut reality show with over-the-top graphics and soundtrack.  Mind you, even if this documentary spends an hour focusing on Barry the Homeless Guy taking a crap in the alley behind the store, it would still be more watchable then Comic Book Men, the AMC show that retroactively made me a virgin again just for watching fifteen minutes of it.

Anyways, the show airs July 13 at 8 PM, which will make for a fun way to rewind after a day of our SDCC coverage.

I hope we get to see the nerds in their natural environment, naked, floppy manbreasts exposed.

Just because I don't know how to spell the language of some tiny African nation doesn't mean that I'm wrong in thinking that your attitude towards women is 100% wrong. Obviously, you're some skinny, single nerd living on the East Coast who probably derives value in life from wrestling matches, hoping that Wolverine gets to sleep with teenagers and engaging in casual drug use. You're literally the worst thing to happen to comics since Stan Lee.
