The Hollywood Reporter reports that Community, which will return in February for its fourth season, may be renewed for a fifth. The news comes via NBC Entertainment Cchairman Robert Greenblatt, who, when asked about the possibility of a fifth season, responded:

"Yes. Absolutely. I'm always hopeful for a show to continue. We co-own it and I'd love nothing more than to see it continue."

That there is no solid answer is a shock, since decisions about whether a show will be renewed for a following season are always made by networks before the current season even begins airing, as it makes sense to decide these things before even seeing how the show performs in the ratings. That's why it's perfectly reasonable that this story, which basically provides no new information whatsoever, is making the rounds on outlets like THR and MTV Geek.

Greenblatt also went on to say that the upcoming fourth season will have "a lot of heart," and that no one cares that Chevy Chase, who appears in all but two episodes of Season 4, has left the show. Chase, a nihilist, departed after realizing it was the only funny thing he's done since the early nineties.

Greenblatt also expressed an interest in maintain a business, or perhaps even sexual,* relationship with heartthrob Joel McHale whether the show continues or not.

_{*he didn't say this, but McHale is so sexy, it should never be ruled out.}
