I went in not knowing there was any cameo and was surprised, because I was not expecting one. Had I known, I would have been expecting it and keeping an eye out, and would probably not have had the same reaction.

Knowing that there is a cameo is pretty much textbook definition of a spoiler, even without going into specifics of who it is.

As for Cap... I would love for the new trailer to be posted online. I liked it more than the first one.

I have pretty high hopes for this movie and it's looking good so far.

I think I'm most excited for GOTG, just because I really really want that to be awesome... but this Cap trailer is the best Marvel trailer they've put out other than Avengers. My hopes are high as well.

Yea, the costume he wears in Cap 2 is by far the best costume so far for the movies. The Cap 1 was better than the Avengers version as well.

I like that they're broken down by need.

Cap 1 is a very militarized suit. It looks like a more colorful and exaggerated version of what a soldier would wear.

Avengers is a flat out superhero suit.

Cap 2 is more "stealthy" and SHIELD-y.

What is interesting is that we do see him wearing the WWI suit in the trailer, and it's in the present. So maybe he ditches the SHIELD duds... for whatever reason. :-D

I think with Cap they've picked a strong story to (at least partially adapt) and they seem to have got the tone right judging from the trailer. Feels very Steranko/Brubaker, which was probably the best possible approach to take. It should work. I'm pretty optimistic about it.

Probably Steve's attempt to snap Bucky out of his brainwashing. Plus dropping the symbol of what current SHIELD is and representing the past. That you can't knock it down.

Yup, that SHIELD costume looks better period.

Mind you, I still wonder why they just did not duplicate the Ultimates first version for Cap. Or a modified version.

Chris wrote:Here is my guess at the story, based on what little we know and the trailer:

After the Battle of New York in Avengers, the government gives SHIELD total control over defense of the country. They build the Triskellion, and a whole fleet of new Helicarriers to police the nation. Steve doesn't like the big brother-esque police state, and tries to speak up but is patted on the head by Alexander Pierce (Redford, as the head of SHIELD) and told to shut up and be a good little soldier.

Steve enlists Fury in righting wrongs, and Pierce turns all of SHIELD on them. We find out that Pierce is working against Cap and the country from within SHIELD, manipulating it to his own ends. Maybe he is the Red Skull ala Lukin from Bru's run. Either way, he works for HYDRA or whatever HYDRA evolved into, and he's got his own people infiltrated throughout every level of SHIELD.

Enter Crossbones as a SHIELD agent.

So once the secret is out, we've got Cap/Widow and Nick Fury vs. a corrupt SHIELD, Crossbones, and a mysterious HYDRA agent called the Winter Soldier.

We see Steve in his WW2 outfit, and it's not a flashback, because he is fighting modern soldiers. So I'm thinking this will be part of his attempt to jog Bucky's memory, by showing up in his WW2 suit.

Yeah I just about to theorize that Alexander Pierce is really Alexander Luksin and is a Soviet spy working to infiltrate the US ala SHIELD.

Least we didn't get the on-the-nose named character of Dell Rusk I guess.

Hope it'll be more an internal fight for SHIELD instead of a Soviet thing. Hard to imagine Crossbones following a Soviet given he's basically an all-American redneck.

If anything I theorize the Red Skull will return in the third film if it ever gets made off hand.

This Crossbones that you have trouble imagining would follow a furriner...

That'd be the Crossbones who has been the lackey of a German Nazi for his entire existence? :P
