sdsichero wrote:It was a better episode. It wasn't greatness, but it was good. It's obvious they are doing some things for a younger audience but also trying to tell a story that might appeal to the older. I think they are having trouble with it, but I appreciate that they are trying.

I don't mind the Thundertank coming in and kicking ass. I just hope they don't change it next episode to being taken out by something really weak, really quick.

By the very nature of their situation, the Thundertank almost HAS to be impossibly bad ass. They don't seem like they're going to have much capacity to repair it like they did in the original show, because they're constantly on the move. They don't seem to have the capacity to build an entire armored battalion either. So these two factors at least suggest the Thundertank is meant to be a complete BEAST up against the Reptilian forces.

Benderbrau wrote:It was like watching two different episodes. They spend 2/3s of the story telling this moving story about the preciousness of life through the Petlars and it was a brilliant tale BTW. But then it was like some producer said "Hey waitaminute! We have to squeeze in the Thundercats Ho battlecry and a fight scene. Make it happen or else." and so they just kinda tacked that on the end. When they came running out of the briar batch at into the army I was really confused.

And was it just me or did Cheetara's rack look huge when they were sitting by the fire at the beginning of the episode?

Seems she's not on the tiny side at all. More when compared to the original design.

If Panthro did any work on the Thundertank you know it has to be badass. :D

Well, plus there's only five guys on the team, two of whom are small children. So it's less Charge of the (entire) Light Brigade, and more Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, charging out to face the entire military with just a couple of guys.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid didn't know there was an entire army waiting for them outside.

Of course. Because he could totally crush Spider-Man with his thighs.

I don't mind st all the bust size increase on the new design, but it may seem a little bit of anti-intuitive,given that her main thing is been a speed runner. And speaking of which it seems like her "speed power" is more like kind of a "ninja run" than a "Flash's super speed" deal and it is something they use in screen only when needed and not something they hit you in the head with every episode,as if they need to constantly remind you "she's Cheetara, she's based on a cheetah, she runs very fast" like they loved to do in the old cartoon.

Also one thing I notice is that some character design bear a certain resemblance to the ones used in Avatar:The Last Airbender.

Now,I know Ethan Spaulding, who was heavily involved and directed several episodes of Last Airbender is the producer of the new Thundercats. But I don't recall him been involved in character design.

I loved last night's episode, it was a sad but beautiful tale of the Petlars, and then to coin a wrestling phase, a huge mark the fuck out moment when my boy Panthro finally showed up in the badass Thundertank!

I'm happily surprised they didn't draw out the Panthro reveal.

I think at least a lizard or two is going to have enough of their general by the end of the season and shut him up.

also i loved the story of the flower creatures. Doesn't surprise me at all that the writer was JM Dematties. Anyone notice if there are other comic people attached to the series?

Panthro reminds me a little of Jet Black. Each of those characters are my favorites from their respective series.
