You know me.
I just really like being able to
leave the city, whenever I like (which is pretty much every weekend).
Our latest thing is to drive upstate (or Conn or Mass) to look at houses that are for sale and pretend/fantasize that we might buy one.

I used to just take the LIRR out to see my dad when I wanted to get away for a little while. Now I'm on Long Island, though. And I'm pretty dependent on cars to get around. Thankfully by brother and his wife have been cool about letting me borrow theirs when I need to.
And let me state that people on Long Island are fucking morons behind the wheel.

Too true.
I hate driving on Long Island.
That includes Queens and Brooklyn.

I live between a Subway stop & a McDonald's on one corner and the entrance to a park on the other and I get so much trash just dropped by these idiots that I've considered putting out a trash can in front of my house.
I'm responsible for keeping the front of my property clean, so I have to pick up after them or I get a ticket.
An apartment building or a house?

You've obviously never driven in Florida.

Ah, that makes more sense. I wish to go to NYC and visit again....the closest I currently have is GTA IV.

I wouldn't either if I lived there. I'd take the subway.

Me too. I love NYC. I'm still hoping to get there in September but my recent car troubles have set me back significantly.

I take the subway every day and didn't learn to drive until I was in my twenties.
The Wife drives to work in the Bronx which is ten minutes away by car, but about 60-90 mins by Public Transportation.

In your wife's situation I would drive too. I wish there was better public transport around here. Although, the cities of Akron and Cleveland just announced they're going to add more bus lines. A lot more people have been using the buses since gas prices increased.

The streets get cleaned (in most neighborhoods)Mondays & Thursdays for one side and Tuesdays, & Fridays for the other.
Okay. I guess that makes sense. We don't have those rules here and yet our streets still managed to get cleaned.
We do have some streets that forbid parking on one side or the other, but that's because they're narrow and parking on both sides would impede traffic. And the side never changes, so you don't have to worry about tomorrow.
