The division in which they play. Free agency. Bad luck.

I don't know how long they have there guys locked up for, but are we to seriously believe the team with the lowest payroll in baseball is going to be a contender every year?

What's wrong with being called Tampa Bay? I mean, Tampa the city is shit, but St. Pete is awesome.

1)It wasn't the lowest payroll in baseball.
2)Obviously, payroll will increase next season and beyond.
3)What difference does this argument make in the slightest? Only 2 out of the top 10 teams with the highest payrolls remain in contention.

It wasn't a problem this year. And, the Rays had a very lucky season -- other teams ran into injuries, and the Rays stayed fairly healthy. The team has been largely mediocre in the past -- I know they've got talent, and better management, but the division they play in is one where two-three teams are willing to spend enormous amounts of money to win. I can't honestly see the Rays becoming the perennial AL East Champions.

St Pete is a beautiful place.

What I meant by they play in Tampa was basically they're the Rays. You can't keep this up when ownership won't invest in the team.

Haha. You have no idea what you're talking about. This team only got healthy in the division series. I stopped reading your post right there, as you're clearly talking out your behind.
