S.F. Jude Terror wrote:
"Yes, I agree. They are pitiful. However, surely a mind as keen and honed as yours can recognize a diamond in the rough. Perhaps you're wondering how a ship as massive as the Aria could be sunk so quickly, and even more perplexing is how such a small and ragtag group could survive where a strong ship like the Aria, with all its crew, would be destroyed. The answer stands before you, and his name is Weasel. I lead the survivors, and they survive because my wit and cunning is so resourceful that even with a... sticky, writhing wormlike group, I was able to put those tools to us in the most efficient and ingenious ways."

The Weasel let's the truth sink in, knowing that the captain can only possibly see the situation one way. "Think on it yourself, sir. You see how useless the survivors are, how weak, how stupid. You've said it yourself, and your powers of observation and deduction are clearly incredible. For them to still be alive, I MUST be the genius I say I am. You know it must be true."

The Weasel moves in for the kill.

"And now, my friend, I have come to put this finely honed mind to use for you. To serve you. Just as I used these dull tools far beyond expectation to survive an unsurvivable catastrophe, think how a superior mind like your own can use a superior tool like myeself."

"Come, let me show you. I will tell you exactly how those fools will fall apart in my absence, and what foolish actions they will take without my guidance..."

Roll your Bluff. You'll have to beat the mysterious captain's Sense Motive, though.

You remain free but face the same moral quandary as Chanoc: the pirates know you're there; they now know there's two of you; and your compatriots back on the flotilla may suffer the consequences. You know they've already been fired on. There's a good chance they'll be fired on again, and now that the full alert's been raised, it's quite possible this whole mission's busted (for everybody, including Faolan and Pinky).

You can make it back through the debris field and onto the flotilla without being seen. It is, of course, a disaster area with children crying and clerics doing their best to heal the wounded or make sure the dead have been fished out of the water and are properly covered against the oncoming rain. It's just ... it's not pleasant, this is the first time you're seeing the results of the attack, and many of the survivors are angry and blaming you for the cannon fire.

And it is my fault. I take full responsibility.

On hearing this, the sixteen-year-old Ophelia erupts into tears and charges at you, emotionally broken after having lost her family aboard the Aria and presumably now Weasel, with whom she pinned all her hopes of rescue, in addition to having just watched eight people die and being unable to control her fear of being next.

Her attack roll, as she attempts to claw at your face...

(Remember, you can parry as per House Rules, you just have to beat her attack roll with one of your own -4.)

Tommas is horribly remorseful and pained at the damage it has not only caused to those who have died but to those who live. He sees that Sabo has come back but does not blame him. When he admits to taking the responsibility and the girl rushes him Tommas tries to intercept, catching her up in his arms and just holding her.

Both Sabo and Tommas, as well as Jey and Armanda, manage to hold the girl's arms long enough for her to break down and fall to her knees in utter despair. She wanted to kill you, she says under her breath. It's not fair. None of this should be happening.

In a quite voice Sabo "I know." he turns away and finds a place to sit, his back to the ship and just stares out to sea muttering to himself. "I should be the one dead. I should be the one dead."
